Can you mention brand ingredients in recipes?
If posting a recipe, can you specify the brand of ingredients to use, or is that considered promoting? E.G. if a recipe calls for flour, can you say which brand of flour to use so that you can be specific on the nutritional information?
It is totally okay to use brand names when listing ingredients, but only if it is really necessary. To most people flour is flour so they're going to use whatever they have laying around. But if you find that generic cheerios work better for a recipe than the brand name cheerios then say that. Your readers will be thankful for the tip.
The recipe capsules for nutritional information states the the numbers might be off. I usually put a text capsule underneath and write in italics any specifics for my nutritional information.
I would prefer not to mention the brand on my ingredients. Yes, I consider it as giving the brand free promotion, unless I am writing the recipe as part of the review of the product.

I have looked at many websites that advertise online calculators to get the Nutritional values of your recipes. None of them work!!! Either the ingredients are not found or the page hangs up. Does anyone know where to find the Nutritional values from a casserole recipe which is accurate?
