Most of the best Mexican food I've had was not in anyone's restaurant, but rather in someone's home.

Of course because I live in Texas near Dallas...I have loads of friends who's parents were immigrants.

I've never had salsa, meat, or tortillas in a restaurant that were anywhere near comparable to home made or prepared at the homes of the friends I have here where I live.  I guess it would have to be called "authentic."

I live in Oklahoma and the best I have had here is a place that serves mostly Oaxacan food and then a tiny truck that serves street food. I haven't actually had the pleasure of eating Mexican food at someone's home, but that sounds great.

I love them all. Mexican food is hard to find in Peru, so we've learned to make many Mexican dishes at home. A friend of Mexican descent taught me to make her mother's homemade salsa. I've learned to make corn tortillas from dried corn and lime. We also love guacamole, pico de gallo and shredded beef all wrapped up in a homemade corn tortilla. My stomach is rumbling as I write about all this delicious food!

That sounds awesome! Mexican food is a staple in Oklahoma. There's probably a  restaurant on every other corner. Finding the good ones is the hard part. But, making it yourself is definitely the most fun way to have Mexican food.
