Did you know that in Virginia kids aren't permitted to bring lunch to school without Doctor's note ?

In Richmond, Virginia kids are no longer permitted to bring lunches from home without a doctor's note; they must eat school lunches only. This is a picture of the actual letter that had been sent home to parents. What is you view on this?

I lived most of my life in Virginia, and I honestly think that's a little on the ridiculous side.

I know, I tried changing this question yesterday but the system would not let me, I have included a link below for others to come to their own conclusion. This is something that I do not want to be right about. And I do hope it's a hoax.

I tried to add to or change this question yesterday but it would not allow me to be the first one to respond to my own question. I believe that I was not clear enough in my posting. This incident occurred at a preschool supposedly . Here is the link for anyone who wants to check it out and form their own opinion. http://skeptics.stackexchange.com/quest … -to-school

I visited the link and I can only ascertain in order for this preschool to receive it's funding or government assistance, it has to meet certain guidelines. If the parents want their little ones to have home lunches they will need the required documentation. Or, just send the tyke to another preschool if its that big a deal.

I agree, although I feel as if it takes away choice.

I'm not surprised. Look into how children are treated in Virginia. There was one city where a judge had his fingers into a correctional facility. He would send students to the facility for three months or longer to get extra money from the government for the facility. Those poor students, their records ruined because of greed.

It is so sad that children are being used for the gain of others, I don't understand how they can look into the face of innocence and use them as pawns.

So, based on the link, and the exchange that followed, this is not true at all, vis-a-vis federal policy.  Ergo, I would stick that in the school's face and call them out on it, and tell them where they can stick their regulation as it is bogus, and of their own invention.
Then, I'd either send all the home-packed lunches I wanted, or remove my kid from that pre-school.  If that meant I could not afford a different school, I'd fill the gap myself.  After all, the parent IS the child's very first teacher...
