What is your favorite comfort food?
Do you have a favorite comfort food when you get stressed? Thank you for answering.
Yes! Fried Chicken. I might even eat the skin depending on my stress level. I allow myself this treat about once a month. The other times my comfort food is chocolate
Whoo, you know it, Sunshine, nothing better than some good fried chicken every now and then and, yes, that crunchy skin! And ... more readily available, chocolate!!!
I love fried chicken and homemade mashed potatoes. There is just something about those two that comforts like none other for me. Chocolate cake is another...dear me, it's just so good!
Oh, my goodness, Mystic, that is an awesome combination there no doubt about it!
Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. Carbs = Comfort my friend!!!
Hi again, B Lucy, yes, the carbs win me over every time indeed ... Enjoy your weekend!
I have to say, the fried chicken and mashed potatoes answer is awesome! And my mom makes a chicken and dumplings recipe that is to die for!! Apparently, I enjoy being comforted! LOL!! You have a good weekend as well!!
Whoo , now you are talking with the chicken and dumplings!
My favorite comfort food is french fries and chicken strips.
Hi jaydawg808, Thank you for answering. That is a good comforting combination there.
Anything pasta, pizza, and believe it or not... a good salad with all the trimmings.
Hi luvtoowrite, oh, yes, the pasta always does it for me and a good pizza too. That is interesting about the salad, but I can see it with good dressing and the works including croutons.
Definitely pizza, and yes, salad here too. All the bright colors make me happy.
Hi cvanthul, ah, yes, all the bright colors ...I can see how that would be comforting with the pizza/salad combination.
I am in with the fried chicken lovers. I eat fried chicken even if I am happy. Pizza is a comfort food also but only if it is full of cheese that stretches when you eat it.
A good Mac and Cheese made with old cheddar . Then don't forget the chips and dips. Good question Faith Reaper
Hi suzzy, yes, you have covered my favorite comfort food and it is true, a lot are great any time whether needing comfort or not! Love the stretchy cheese on pizza ...the best! Thank you for answering.
Anything with cheese. Especially Mexican food. I also like really spicy snacks, like chips and salsa.
Hello Bk42author, I do love chips and salsa too and Mexico food for a meal. It certainly is satisfying!!!
I was thinking mac n cheese, but I think I need to go with Chicken and Dumplings and corn bread. Yum! Oh, shoot. Now you've got me craving, Faith!
Hi Sha, I can eat mac n cheese, but you have nailed it with the chicken and dumplings and corn bread!!! You have me craving some chicken n dumplings w/cornbread ...doesn't get any better than that combo! Watch out!!! Lol
lugao, a Filipino rice dish that is soupy and I like it with egg and chicken and garlic.
Hi grand old lady, I have never heard of such, but it certainly sounds yummy, especially with garlic added!
Meat loaf! Whether I make it myself, my wife makes it, or I have it at a restaurant. I don't think I ever met a meat loaf I didn't like. A close second is baked or barbequed chicken thighs and corn on the cob. Homemade beef stew is a winter time fave.
Whoa there Bob, you have pulled out all the stops with all of that oh so comforting food! Boy, I am getting hungrier by the minute.
At home it is ice cream or popcorn. Both are fun to eat slowly. At work it is some kind of chips. I like the crunchiness. All others would be a diet soda, yet that is a drink. Being diabetic I choose that because a candy bar is not a choice and that comes closest to it.
Hi tsmog, yes, there truly is something to hearing that crunch that satisfies. Popcorn is great and ice cream, although no crunch, it is always wonderful. I better watch my sugar intake too, but I do love chocola're candy bars.Wise choices are good.
Definitely rice....with a little butter....or with chili...or with anything. LOL. If I really want to comfort myself....vanilla ice cream with a slice of pound cake (can't have this hardly at all anymore.....too much sugar).
Hi Dee, Rice will surely satisfy, especially with those toppings. Ohhh, on the pound cake for sure!!! You are the first to mention it and it is truly comforting : )
My Nana, Mom, aunts and now, Me, make a South Jersey dish called chicken pot pie (chicken bot boi), but not the crust pie, it is more like a type of chicken and dumplings, but it is warm, tasty and oh so yummy. It has been a family favorite for generations, there is nothing like it...it is our family's favorite comfort food.
Well, my oh my, sallieannluvslife, you, your Nana, Mom and aunts have certainly come up with a superb comfort food dish there!!! That would make an awesome recipe hub there ...hint, hint : ) I can understand why it is your whole family's favorite!
I prefer noodles with some sweet corn it.
Hi Susan Recipes, Noodles are so very comforting indeed, then with the added sweet corn, sounds wonderful! Thank you for answering.
Well my answer is really going to sound odd after all of he delicious food that was mentioned here.
My favorite comfort food is Frosted flakes. Yes, i wrote that, but it is. It was always around, I could have it whenever I wanted. It is snack food, for breakfast or even for a meal we called Breakner (breakfast for dinner).
If I was sick a bowl of sugary, crunchy flakes would appear on the tray right beside a small bowl of applesauce. Makes me think of home, Mom and family. That is the comfort in my unique comfort food.
Hi StoneCircle, I am so glad you did write Frosted Flakes!!! You did bring me back to childhood and that is comforting and mom too. Awesome! Thank is sweet about the applesauce too. I do not think it odd in the least bit. I have had "Breakner"!
Hands, down it's Chocolate--the darker the better. It's a celebration all by itself and that beats stress any day!
Oh, you know it!!! And it is so readily available everywhere pretty much! When I was younger I did not care for dark chocolate, but I love it all now! LOL I love that ... a celebration all by itself, so true!
Roast beef with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Mother always made THE BEST roast beef - slow roasted for hours. And that gravy... perfect every time. How can gravy be perfect every time?
Hello Glenda, now your mother certainly knew how to comfort the family with such delicious food. Yes, how can it be perfect every time ...mothers have that special touch of love no doubt! Thank you for answering.
