The Cabbage Soup Diet - What The Heck Is It?

   If you have tried the cabbage soup diet, please tell me what the experience was like and if it works?

      I knew somebody who tried it, but it didn't last long. Apart from being boring, cooking it makes the house stink, and it causes flatulence. Not nice for the dieter, nor for those in their facinity.

   I did it years ago....trying to remember...you make up this enormous pot of vegetable soup, with loads of veggies and a chopped up cabbage too. Then for three days you eat nothing else but this soup and water. Then on the 4th day you eat a little bit of meat, plus the soup of course. The day after...more meat? I can't remember, but the diet is pretty well over either that day or the next.
   You do lose weight trust me. This is a classic example of a low carbohydrate/low fat diet that can kick-start your metabolism into burning body fat.
   
   Course you will put it all back on the following week!
   
   Plus you will turn your nose up at even the idea of cabbage soup for a while (too much of a good thing!)

   I tried it once - or at least I made the cabbage soup, couldn't bring my self to actually eat it and had the most irritating problem of trying to get rid of the huge pot and contents afterwards - I wouldn't recommend it.

   Thanks guys, that's what I thought... that's why I didn't add it to my weightloss blog - <snipped link>, I also did a hub on it, saying that it was short term only, and for the brave (who want to lose a few pounds before a date or event) it does work in theory. Now I see it's messy - not cool- so thanks for your replies.
   
   I am searching for ways to turn people from pharmaceutical drugs when they're desperate to lose weight - long horrifying story on my part - but bottom line is that I only want natural ways that work so I need to do all my research before it's fit for the blog.
