I am by no means prolific yet on this site, but the hubs I created in the past quickly climbed to mid 80s -90s.
Now, that i submitted what seems like the most thorough an surely time intensive, i am getting no movement at all?
Did I use to many external links? I linked out to firefox add on page -that would be a sily thing to be penalized for if my hub is about efficiency techniques for blogging and hubs?
http://tinyurl.com/hubsuccess
What's with the cloaked URL?
And I think it's pretty obvious you've run afoul of the "too many links to one domain" rule.
well because the actual address is this:
http://hubpages.com/hub/10-indispensabl … -and-blogs
which is to long for many of my promotional resources
hence using a tinyrurl: http://tinyurl.com/hubsuccess
which just happened to be still in my clipboard at the time of posting.
have i obviously ran afoul of external link rules, how would i fix such an issue when doing an article on web resources, tell my readers about the resource but not give them the option to download! Thats pretty stupid.
so ill have to do one link out to the firefox add on page and make readers search for the resource themselves with a small blurb about how the pages rating system has limited their user experience.
feels like i wasted my time writing this hub then
I just started hubbing, so I am not a hundred percent sure how it works, but your GoDaddy Link is broken.
Thank you both for answering,
Brad, the Godaddy link is now fixed, sorry about the inconvenience-i was not kidding about their customer service, when setting up my first domains and ftp servers i called 3-4 times a week with pretty in depth questions, i always felt good and had the problem solved within 10 minutes of calling them
Good luck if you decide to start your own site!
Seems like I may have solved the problem by finding alternate sources for the downloads, and finding one toolbar that includes all three of the social bookmarking sites! Lemonade from lemons, i guess
I have actually had some good experiences with GoDaddy customer service as well. I usually use them as my registrar, but do my hosting elsewhere. I have called them up the last two times I bought a new domain and they have been able to get me up and running really quickly.
The rule is not that you can't have several links. There are rules about the types of links that can be placed. Here's the info from HubPages FAQ:
What types of linking are illegal:
Also, 76 is not a bad hubscore. A large portion of hubscore has to do with traffic. It may not be your content at all.
Thanks for the help everybody, i ended up finding alternate links to the firefox add on resources - which would make it one extra click for a reader to get to the actual downloads, but defeats the more than 2 links to one domain rule.
In the process found a better resource that includes all the social bookmarking sites into one toolbar rather than the 3 individual toolbars i had previously recommended so the learning process made the hub better and cleaned up my user experience.
I still think that the more than two links to one domain rule is sketchy, there should be a protected list that is exempt from this restriction.
there are thousands of add ons at the firefox page
and how about windows knowledge base,
or any of the virus databases (for repair)
These domains are sufficiently large or non user friendly where an informational hub that linked to them multiple times could be very helpful without a user being able to simple bypass and wade through the info without a guide.
So maybe, stupid was a strong word, but needs improvement and perhaps a "protected, exempt or accepted list"
"Links to well-known Web resources which you don't have any personal interest in (like Wikipedia, news sites, encyclopedias, open directories, etc.) are exempt from this limitation."
perhaps this rule is already in play, maybe the low score had nothing to do with the links out anyway?
Well thanks a lot for the help, is their any way I can close this forum, I feel like I have the issue handled now, your answers were sufficiently informative and I dont see the need the continue to use up other writers time.
Hi sunforged:
Just wanted to clear up a few points.
That hub has a very reasonable score, I think. It was only published yesterday, and most of the traffic as of yet is coming from within HubPages. As you get more search engine traffic and backlinks, your score should rise.
Also, I want to clarify on linking. We only allow 2 links per domain to promotional sites-sites in which you have a vested interest. If you are linking to a commonly-referenced site, there is not a penalty for more than two, within reason. Please have a careful read of the info on this page. I think this should clear up any remaining confusion on our linking policies.

I am starting to learn how to social bookmark. I've been doing it on twitter, facebook, igoogle, digg, delicious, diigo, my blogs, pingomatic and a few other places. I have only been doing it on some of these sites for the last four or five days. It probably takes a while to see...

Ok, so I haven't gotten that aweful 999 error in MONTHS! and now, it seems there are so many perfect questions to post my links too, and I'm getting the 999 error! Anyone else having this problem? I was getting ok traffic from them, enough for my to be frustrated by this. Plus, like I said, today...

HubPages alerted me that this hub had been copied: http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Amazing-Lif … ine-McCoy, and so I wrote the editors of that website and asked for it to be removed. I got this back (see below). I am just appalled. I'm not good at confrontations and have no idea what to do. The...

I read the success stories, but are there any hubbers that make 1000s on here? Curious on ones potential.\I know "some" successful full-time affiliates make 1000s from adsense, but any exclusive to hubpages?

I just had a hub flagged as "overly promotional" and am a bit confused after reading the FAQ on this topic.A direct quote from the FAQ: "Please note that promotional links are links that you have any interest in promoting (your blog, your Website, affiliate offers, etc.). Links to...
