Hey all, for some reason my profile has 'flag this profile' on it.  I looked at the reasons but don't understand.  Any comments would be appreciated..Thanks!

As of yesterday people are encouraged to use this feature when they come across underage users or inappropriate content on profiles instead of the former practice of contacting hub staff via email.

Great ideal, I once reported a profile that was set up for e-mail scamming! smile

        However, I'm curious to know...
What happens when you flag a profile?
Just, interested because if someone is mad at someone, it just seems like an easy way to be cruel sad

Hey Money Glitch, I am pretty sure that HubPages Staff treats them just like flagged hubs. They moderate them and see if they are as claimed or damaging. Then takes appropriate steps to protect itself. wink smile

Nice to see you in the forums again. smile Hope you are doing well.

Glad to hear and I'm doing well. Thank you for asking.
This is not possible. I am here on average for 15 hours a day, how we miss one another is only because one of us is absent. lol

The staff reviews the hub for TOS violations. The flag itself does not hurt the hub writer, but a violation may.

If someone is flagging because they didn't like an (allowable) opinion or because they are "being mean"  it isn't good for the person doing the flagging.

The staff has a huge amount of material to oversee-- so they like it when you flag something that honestly seems questionable to you, so they can act quickly.

There are "flag this profile" on all the profiles. The profiles could say or have links that are not moderated, because the profiles can have so many links without restrictions, except for two to each domain.

The words can possibly violate terms of service of HubPages or even GOOGLE Adsense, so to me, it is welcomed.

This is news for me. Where did you read this? I mean two domains restriction for profiles?

It made sense that if hubs are restricted, then profiles would also be. If not, then oh well. I learned something new. smile

It's a good idea. I once saw a profile that was not really a profile, but a personal attack on another hubber. It would have been a good one to flag.
I think this might be one reason the option was added.

I've seen a few that I thought could have stood being flagged.  They had nothing but "titles" or URL's that led to - like - one, big, ad page.  Some also involved the "Hubber" posting a bunch of spam on the forums too. Essentially, the whole profile was nothing but a major spam endeavor.  It would have taken time to flag every "Hub", though (which may be why they did it).   So now, people can flag in one, single, swoop.

Other than that, I can't really think of too many things that would make me want to flag any other kind of profile.....   maybe if some really extremely, extremely, completey socially unacceptable and offensive profile showed up.  Even if that happened, though, the HubPages team would be the ones to judge (and if it were bad enough that I'd even think about flagging it, I suspect there'd be a really good chance the HubPages team would find it objectionable too).

From the title, I thought you were asking us to flag a profile.

    Good question.

As others have already pointed out, this is way to flag profiles as opposed to just hubs.

What I don't get is why can we flag our own profile?
