Do you like continuing stories?

   A friend I made here and I are in the midst of multi-part serial stories that follow a set of characters as they experience many of life's everyday matters. The question I have to ask is whether any of you are interested in such. We are itching to learn about how we can make these attractive to the search engines and have done some pretty intensive keyword searches to find what would draw in visitors.
   
   So, basically, I would like to invite you to check out the two serials, The Women on Thespian Lane by kaltopsyd and Jenny's Life by yours truly.

   I will try these series. I would think the words would need to be action-oriented to keep attention and focus of readers. TV soap operas have been around for decades so perhaps your mini-series will draw fans.

   Hello Dobson and Kaltopsyd - I've seen your serials (and congratulations on your hubnugget win kaltopsyd). Been meaning and meaning to read them for ages - I read the beginning of Thespian Lane and thought it very well written. Got to catch up with the rest now! I guess the only reason why I have not actually managed to read them both is that they are quite long and I never seem to have enough time to spare. I do all my own writing in ten minutes here, ten minutes there and it takes me ages to read a book these days (since my little one was born!) Promise to read them both though, just not sure when!

      I understand the length might be a hindrance to some, but here is hoping there is an appetite to be fed for those still interested in a serial story.

      Thanks, Polly. I appreciate you reading part one of Thespian Lane. Yes they are pretty long (usually 1500 - 2000 characters). I try to make subsequent installments no longer. So I'm with Dobson. I understand.

   I just started a multi-part hub a few days ago and published part 5 today. I'll have to check yours out. I love that kind of thing.
   
   I did notice that the arrows at the bottom of part 5 direct the reader to part 3 though. Not sure how to fix that or if there is even a way to do that.

      That is not a bad thing. You never know what will catch someone's eye. They may start at part 5 and want to jump back. This is a function of the Group application. It collects similar hubs.
      
      One thing you can do is to put a link at the end of your hub that sends the reader to the next chapter. I picked that up from kaltopsyd.

   I would like to recruit 10-12 creative writers to take part in a serial where each would take 1 turn. The benefit is all of us would tap into each others followers. Not to mention the link potential. Any takers?

   OK - I want to bump this for a new angle. If you are a writer of a serial story, meaning a story that is more than one part I would like to ask for your assistance in promoting the genre in general. If you will agree we can create a custom RSS Feed to corss promote each others work. The requirements are simple, we all agree to insert this RSS Feed and all add the words "Serial Story" to our tags. Then we create the "Serial Story" Rss Feed and voila, we all get promoted to each others followers.

      Interesting concept. I would like to join.
      
      I thought at first that you were looking for writers to write different parts to a story. Like we used to do in H.S. I'll write the first paragraph then you write the next and so on. Sounded like fun to me!

   I am interested in contributing on the reviewer's side. Are you doing anything to actually track down and contact other writers of "serials" on HubPages? I know that there are several, but I'm afraid this thread alone is not enough.
