Number of words per hub

   I know that the length of a good hub should between 800-1400 words, but where does it tell you how many words you have written?

      I am not sure what you mean, Brian.
      
      In a hub, at the very top of the hub, just above the title, you will find a small bar - with various options - one of them is 'stats'. Click on it, and navigate to Hub Metrics - you will find what you need. But this data is available after publishing.
      
      Most word processor software have word count inbuilt into them, if you need to know the word count BEFORE publishing.

         You can see the word count if you have it saved unpublished as well

      Brian,
      
      One thing that you might want to try from a linking point of view to help with SEO in search is to group articles by theme in sets of say 10 articles;
      
      build a pyramid structure starting with your main keyword and working out to longtail keywords from there like this example..
      
      1 at the top of the pyramid = 1,500 words approx - "shoes" keyword.
      2, 3, 4 below it around 800 words long "dress shoes", "sports shoes", "womens shoes"
      5,6(below 1)7,8 (below 2) 9,10 (below 3) "womens size 5 red shoes" etc. 500 to 600 words each for the smaller articles.
      
      The keywords to be used in URL and title of each article and within the article to point (anchor text) to the article below in the pyramid structure.
      
      Build it as many levels as you like deep and point down from the top and then back to the top from the bottom level.
      
      This creates a great internal linking structure for SEO and will help your article set in search.

   You could do what I did over a couple of years ago, count every word that would be fun wouldn't it? ....or yeah you could check out your hub stats!!

   Another way to know word count is also to
   Copy and paste everything to microsoft word!
   or go to a website like wordcounttool.com and press calculate

   I'm glad this is available but judging by the hubs I've just reviewed while "hopping" word count not being taken into consideration.
   So many newbies are writing only a paragraph...
