Today, take a few minutes and talk to your kids about the 4th of July and what it means for Americans. Kids learn from you, their parents, and learn to be good citizens. Take the time to make them understand what pride in country, what pride in heritage, and what pride in their ancestors really means. Have a great 4th.
This is a good idea, don't forget to tell them all the other stuff too though.
Mine are all tribal members. Come to the CASINOS, it's way better than beads, and we let you keep what you win! HAPPY FOURTH
True pride comes from knowing true history--celebrating the good and taking responsibility for the bad as well.
... the 4th of July just means that ....
... Jefferson's Declaration of Independence was signed 234 years ago.....
And ever since then this land has been moving towards fascism and socialism.
Well, at least we're always behind when compared to Europe and Canada
I reflect on the courage and the vision of the founders of this country. The wisdom, the sacrifice has given us the best country in the history of this planet. Despite all the flaws, we have more opportunity than anywhere else. We just have to have the courage to take advantage of it.
Or maybe the courage to do a bit less of the bad stuff and a bit more of the good stuff. I am told America is overwhelmingly Christian, how about, as a country, starting with the ten commandments when operating around the world- this is a simple enough list of good stuff that is not hard to follow.
Soooo appropriate to do this tired old bit on this thread on this day.
Ai-ya ~
You are confusing the people of this country with the politicians.
One of the beauties of our system is that we have choices. We are not tied blindly to any particular cultural,or religious choice.
I am not confusing anything - America is a nation of people and its leaders. I said quite plainly "how about, as a country". Many people, including myself, I am English BTW, have close ties and affection for the US. Recent years have damaged that and it would be nice to see you all turning away from aggressive interventions around the world and putting your house in order so that we can regain the respect and affection that we had in the past. Wishing for a more peaceful US is not anti-American it is just that - a wish for peace.

Just a thought. Who knows how this thread will go.As I mentioned in a Fourth-of-July thread, a Boston television station had a piece about how 40% of 18- to 29- year olds surveyed didn't know why Americans celebrate the Fourth-of-July. I don't think most people would expect most...

If you vote for Hillary and the country goes to H*** in a hand basket, are you willing to take partof the responsibility because you voted for her? I know that if Trump wins I am willing to take part of the responsibility for what he does for our country because I voted for him.
