One more thing Mason, to help you understand my concept of rights. If nobody helps those who cannot support themselves within the law, they enforce their rights by some other means. Either way, somebody pays.
What makes you think you have a "right" to help?
And I understand your concepts just fine, it is you who have an issue with understanding the difference between a "Right" and "Socail Policy".
And the one word is, "American"
So it was American that voted in a socialist government.
That is just an awesome explanation.
Re: 'what makes (me) think I have a right to help?'
Are you kidding? What, or who is going to stop me? Are you going to nab a sandwich out of my hand? HAHA
You misunderstand wizzy... or your just twisting.
What makes you think when you need help... that you have a "Right" to help.
I just thought this was worthy of being bumped.
"I think the best way to stimulate the economy is to give money to the poor."
Warren Buffet (2008)
Stimulus checks to Americans did just that. On the other hand, these back-breaking stimulus bills just stimulated governmental agencies -- big difference.
Sure. No argument here. Maybe you should go out today, give a fiver to a hobo.
If you don't care, as you said before, why bother to post here? Clearly that is an untruth, you have some reason for making such effort. As for hobos, I've helped many actual hobos, as opposed to those who pose as such, and I have some very good memories of doing so, and hope to have more.
Awesome. Feed another hobo if it makes you feel better. Put another happy memory in the bank. I am only responding to you out of politeness. It was you who engaged me in this conversation. If you want to end it on a happy note, lets hold virtual hands and remember the happy days. Days of feeding hobos. Days of walking around with guns and days of socialist presidents. Viva America!
This chart puts the bellyaching about the stimulus program and the deficit in proper perspective. The major causes of the deficit in order of magnitude are the Bush tax cuts for the plutocrats, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the recession which reduced tax revenues, and last, the TARP and stimulus programs.
ttp://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2010/06/chart_o_the_day.php?ref=fpblg
Now that's scary.
I'm starting to believe that more Americans than I feel comfortable believing actually think this way.
Like Nazi's.
Mason, could you just remind me again, who voted in the socialist government of America?
Was it America that voted in a socialist government? The America that your ideals represent?
The progressive left,... and old time democrats who couldn't believe that obama was a Socialist. Not to mention the guillable independents who didn't actually believe he was a Socailist, either.
Of which I am one, an independent, NOT one who voted for him. I saw him for what he was, alot of Americans didn't. Many would not believe he was a Socialist when they were told... and are now freaked by it.
Most of those who voted for Oby really did not believe he was a Socialist and would inact Socialist policies.
And that is a fact.
So a majority percentage of Americans voted in, as victims of a deception, a socialist dictator?
Maybe you guys should start educating the poor? You know. So they can pick the socialist out.
A "great" majority more Americans did not vote for Obama then McCain.
Especially when you consider he ran against mcCain who is not considered a "conservative" in the republican party.
He should have been able to anihilate McCain, the progressive.
He didn't
And you don't win the elections in America by the popular vote, wiz...
Barack H. Obama Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Democratic 69,499,428 52.87%
Elec Vts 365 67.8%
John S. McCain, III Sarah H. Palin Republican 59,950,323 45.60%
Elec Vts... 173 32.2%
Ralph Nader Matt Gonzalez Independent 739,278 0.56% 0 0.0%
Bob Barr Wayne Allyn Root Libertarian 523,433 0.40% 0 0.0%
Other (+) - - 750,660 0.57% 0 0.0%
Obama did not win by the huge majority you seem to think he did.
Crunch the numbers however you want Massy. You and your Americans voted in a socialist, right?
Deal with it.
Wow it iritates you...America that is. hahaha
Get over it.
Good nite Aussie... I am sure you will be here American hating in the AM.
Someone once said " If we outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns." and they were right. even if guns were outlawed there will always be underground gunshop and the like. Who will sell a gun to anyone not even a waiting period or age limit required. As there are some of these already im sure. But imagine if the regular law abinding citizen cannot possess a gun for protection, then somone will say you cannot have a gun for hunting, or any other recreational purposes as well. Then we are sitting ducks for outlaws. I hope it never happens. Thats why we fight for our right to bear arm.
Don't imagine. Leave. It's called The Rest Of the World.
Our ancestors fled "the rest of the world."
You're ancestors didn't have crack cocaine and automatic weapons firing 16 rounds in a clip.
Even more of a reason to have the right to carry.
No, but they had other ways of killing people and plenty of alcohol and opium if they so desired. Just as yours did, wherever you are from. My neighbors all have firearms because many are hunters. Some of us have collections of old and historical guns and rifles.
Others have rapid fire weapons, all legal to own. Unless it is hunting season it is rare to hear a gunshot. Accidental shootings are almost nonexistent, certainly rarer than death caused by being hit by an automobile being driven by a texting teenager.
Things in America aren't like what is depicted in the movies, WizO. We don't all live in the ghettos with gunfights raging and drug dealers peddling their wares. Yes, these things are real in some places but not everywhere!
'Things in America aren't like what is depicted in the movies, WizO. We don't all live in the ghettos with gunfights raging and drug dealers peddling their wares. Yes, these things are real in some places but not everywhere!'
Your fellow Americans spent most of last night trying to convince me that at least 50% of all home intruders in America like to rape and skin alive peoples children (rather than just stealing their computer and television).
Hard to know what the truth is (although I'm far more inclined to believe your version of events - You seem saner).
The value of guns for self-protection is highly over-rated. It's actual use for protection is outweighed by accidental shootings, suicides and the impracticality of keeping the handgun accessible for quick use. I read in my local newspaper every day about drive by shootings, drug war shootings, accidental child shootings, gun suicides, robbery shootings, but I hardly recall the last account of where a gun was used successfully for self-protection. Occasionally there is a report of an inner city liquor store owner who shoots a robber using a handgun kept in a handy spot under the counter below the cash register. But sometimes the owner gets shot before he can use his gun.
NRA propaganda. Correlation isn't the same as causation.
The Orange County report is a rare happy report on a gun incident. The unhappy reports of accidents, drug shootings, spur-of-the-moment suicides, etc. outweigh such reports 100:1.
To even place criminal use of a firearm in the same catagory as lawful ownership and use of a firearm, is just absurd.
So we should outlaw MTV because alot of gang-bangers watch it?
Leftist logic never ceases to amaze me. The facts are that a criminal will obtain a gun no matter the laws against it. They are criminals.
But to take my right to bear arms, or any of my rights away, because a criminal may abuse those rights, is a joke.
I have to go to town, Ralph... I will be a couple hours but will answer you when I return if you wish to continue this convo.
"So we should outlaw MTV because alot of gang-bangers watch it? "
Well, if a lot of people were getting killed by stray music videos flying out of gang-bangers' living rooms, it might be reasonable to consider that.
Alot of those gang-bangers are the homocides you all keep quoting... you do not think the shit MTV slimes out is a promotion of that lifestyle. You do not think those teenagers who could not legally own a firearm are not enticed to live that way because of that shit. yuh...
Please...
Maybe some people go gangsta because of watching a music video, but most people don't. You wanna ban music videos for everyone because of the actions of a few people who watch them?
Wait...I think I've heard a similar argument before, but it was about something other than music videos...What was it? Lemme think....It'll come to me.
Another nutjob with a gun shoots six people.
A gunman opened fire at an Albuquerque fiber optics manufacturer Monday, killing five people and wounding four others before killing himself in what police said was a domestic violence dispute.
The shooting at Emcore Corp. appeared to involve the 37-year-old gunman's ex-wife or girlfriend, police Chief Ray Schultz said. It was not immediately clear whether she was among the dead. Shultz said the gunman was a former employee.
Chaos unfolded as the gunman opened fire, sending employees fleeing for cover as police locked down the entire neighborhood. Police said 85 employees were later taken to a community center for interviews with detectives.

THE HARD WORK OF GUN CONTROL NY Times 7-11-10
"The gun lobby is going to attack virtually every gun ordinance it can find, if only to see what it can get away with now. (Last week, the same lawyers who brought the Chicago and Washington cases sued North Carolina, challenging a law that prohibits carrying weapons during a state of emergency.)
Lawmakers need not match the lobby’s obduracy. Cities and states should counter with tough but sensible laws designed to resist legal challenges and keep gun possession to a minimum."
