Is there any limit to the number of keywords and links one can have in a hub?
For example, can I choose 20 keywords for my Hub and have 3 links (to the external sites) in my Hub body?
Thanks for your help!
The FAQ suggest at least 12 keyword but no upper limit, but i have read on the forums that not more than 20
It does not specify any thing about the number of links to other hubs, though I guess if you connect to more than a particular number of your own hubs it may be considered over promotional I guess.
I think content works for me....
practically, I am not so much interested on keywords or linking...
Some of my hubs really indexed to the top of the Google where I never use any type of keywords or linking....
i think if you have a good quality contents then this is ok for better ranking your hubs....
Hi,
I will suggest you to write genuine and original articles. Instead of using keywords if you write original article then it is more attractive than keyword rich article.
Thank You
I was under the impression that any more than 2 links to any one particular domain could be seen as over promotional. Sofs seems to have nailed it as far as linking to hubs is concerned.
That is correct - only two links to outside sites are permitted. Links to your own hubs is basically unlimited - I always try to include 2 or 3 and have one RSS feed as well to my other hubs on the same general topic. Sometimes I'll add an additional feed to my "hot" hubs.
The number of keywords in your hub equals its total number of words minus the number of stop words - providing you consider strictly one word long keywords. If you count several words phrases as keywords, the number becomes several times bigger.
The is no limit to outside links as long as they go to different domains, but you can't have more than two links to the same domain from one hub. Linking consistently to the same domain from a big number of hubs is penalized, too. To the best of my knowledge there is no limit on linking to other hubs whether your own or not.
Yah lost me on the keywords explanation Misha. Some of my hubs have too many keywords I think but they seem to be doing OK? But could maybe do even better if I got rid of some?
Is there a specific list of stop words that you use, Misha, or are they all pretty much the same?
Lisa, I don't use any list of stop words. What you are using or want to use it for?
I think the OP and others are getting confused between keywords and tags. There is a limit to the number of tags you can put on a hub which is dependent on how long the hub is - it's not a fixed number. When you've added too many you get a warning so it's easy to know how many is ok.
Thank you for all the responses and generously sharing your knowledge.
In my initial question, I meant keywords (tags)we specify before writing the hub.
The term keyword is used interchangeably for the keywords we specify before writing the hub as well as for the keywords inside the hub text.
I heard that inside hub, we can use keywords upto 3% of the total words before it is considered as keyword spamming. Any thoughts about it?
To see what Google is looking at open a hub, click view at the top browser bar, then click page source, you will see that the title of your hub is tagged as an H1. The modules are tagged as H2.
Google is looking at these tags first for the keyword source. The rule of thumb is 1-2 keywords per 150 words. The sidebar tags may be an H2 or H3, not sure. You can build some 3,4, or 5 longtail keywords in your content from original keyword.
The other school of though is put a less competitive longtail keyword in your title (H1), and when your Hub becomes stronger you will have a chance to rank for the more competitive shorter keyword.

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

I know it's been asked before. I've even asked it before. But is there a better and easier way to bring in links to a link capsule from another hub. It'd make linking series so much easier. I spent about 2 hours yesterday linking an old series that I have together. It included about 20 or so hubs...

So, I've got this hub I've put a lot of effort into and had high hopes for. It's my first real keyword hub. I did what was for me, a lot of link building in order to get a higher pagerank to get a good Search Engine Ranking Position.A few days ago, and less than two months old, it finally got...

I have been here on HP over 3 years, and still don't fully comprehend the concept! I get that they are words and/or phrases that reflect the content of your article, aren't tags, and that they're not to be 'stuffed'. Apparently I have some block to this, since some of my articles have...

I've had links to my own related hubs snipped on several occasions (mostly blatant lists at the end of a hub), but some links have been left in place after several snips. So is it acceptable to include a link to a hub which may be very relevant to the specific content in a section of a hub, if it...
