Oil Anyone know what people get when the have it all ?
Controll !!!
"Some people" on here have been blaming religion for all the problems that we are faced with today and we have been letting them get away with it for too long.
Political manipulation of the middle east is what has brought us to where we are today.
Outside forces have been disrupting the political balance in the middle east for about 60 years in an attempt to prevent One single country from achieving control of the whole region, thus gaining world dominance through their possession of the all of the oil.
And then came Bin Laden.
He didn't attack Christianity.
What is happening today isn't a religious war.
Bin Laden attacked that outside forces that (in his mind) has been raping his country for half a century and he says quit it!!.
This is basically how it has been through out history.
Political leaders have been causing havoc "in the name of God" and walking away with all the cash.
That is My story and I'm sticking to it.
Yep. The years of British, US and Soviets playing puppet masters in the Middle East have caused untold harm. And still it continues, and still the reason is oil.
People forget that until WWI we had an Ottoman Empire over there. Then it was broken up. I'm pretty sure that is when it all started.
Yes it goes way back. The actions of the 'west' in recent history have not helped.
The overthrowing of the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran in a coup d'état orchestrated by the US and British intelligence services in 1953 for example, was politically not religiously motivated. That action lead to 25 years of a dictatorship in Iran to which the US government leant support in the form of arms. The discontentment the puppet regime caused among the populace paved created the perfect conditions for the Iranian Revolution in 1979 when Ayatollah Khomeini became leader. The Ayatollah use religion to galvanise the discontentment. He took a traditionalist and nationalist stance in opposition to the Shah who was a US puppet. So as ever political power was the motivation. Nationalism and religion simply the means of attaining it. In the case of Iran, the rest as they say is history.
Corrupt manipulative rulers brought about Religion.
Religion equals control.
When too many people of the world dismissed religion-
Politics(government) was born from Religious rulers.
Religious leaders of history has caused wars. Political(religion born) starts wars.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I'm glad that we agree that politics is the cause.
Politics in the Roman Empire is what started Christianity as we know it today.
But before that we had Pagans and Jews. And then, Jews that received their Messiah
Don't think for a second that the War that began after the Towers were hit was political, because it wasn't. The "Jihad" is a religious war, not a political war.
However, since politics was born from religion...it remains a religious war.
Think what ya want to.
If someone blew a hole in the side of my house, I don't care if it was a chipmunk, a preacher or a grocery store clerk;
I'm going to do what I think will best prevent it from happening again.
My actions would be political from an individual level.
Your actions wouldn't be political in any manner.
It would have nothing to do with religion for sure.
Sure it would....eye for an eye. You would want justice. Where do you think "justice" came from?
NOooo It would be basic survival you know fight or flight.
A pack of dogs might run one dog home, but then it stands and fights. No religion involved.
It seems like I watched it all happening. Actually not quite all but almost all.
Ya can't run over a region and get away with it for ever.
When the cat gets of the leash it is determined to not let that happen again.

I've heard people in the forums repeatedly accuse the religious of being war mongerers. And blame religion for the lion's share of strife throughout history.I do firmly believe that religion has been an invaluable tool used to assuage the guilt associated with aggression. Claiming the moral high...

Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?

I have many friends that are conservative theologically. I tend heavily to that side of the spectrum, as well. I would classify myself a conservative evangelical. However, I've found that most of my friends tend to be right-wing conservatives when it comes to politics. I am...
