I am thinking about advertising my most trafficked, or best hubscore hub in Adwords. Maybe just for a few days of weeks, until some people become repeate visitors, and maybe even could get some HubPages referrals. I also read somewhere that advertising through Adwords actually increases your Google rankings (in the organic search results).
What's your opinion, experience? Would it be worth it?
I am no authority on this, but recall reading that Google does not like Adwords targeted to pages that have Adsense. If I have understood it correctly, trying to do this could get you in trouble.
That's referred to as "Arbitrage" . Google "adsense arbitrage" to learn more about it and what Google does to discourage it.
I did so and found this:

- YOU CAN USE ADWORDS TO DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR SITE WHICH SHOWS ADSENSE ON IT -
Clear ?
Arbitrage is using Adwords ads that display and use low paying keywords to drive traffic to sites showing high paying keywords that have no relervance to the Adwords advert -
Example - Adwords ad - 'Get Great Supermarket Deals' - Goes to site covered in Adsense related to 'credit cards' -
YOU MUST ENSURE your landing pages are clear and relate to the Adwords advert and your offer is clear.

innovationonline in other words, when visitors get to your site because they have clicked on your adwords ad, they need to find what your adwords ad promised, NOT BE hit in the face with fifteen adsense ads, confusing them into clicking .. click click click, oh dammit what was I even looking for a while ago when I clicked on that adwords ad... ? If you are running an ad for a great chicken recipe, and somebody clicks it, they better be able to find that chicken recipe VERY easily when they get to your site .
I only winded up on this thread because some crazy person was telling other users that they are not allowed to have any adsense on a landing page where a user arrives via adwords.

Got me all worked up and scared, thought I had totally mixed up the rules and junk.
Hope this has helped you figure out things.. as I've basically reiterated what bishop has pointed out...

And who might that "crazy person" be?
I have no idea.
Do the search that pcunix advised. You will find it.
It was all very interesting by the way. Lots of interesting history in this subject.
How were you able to edit the reply box like that to only show part of the google forum repost? The reply box is supposed to "be automatically quoted in its entirety."
Neat trick!? Or what did I miss?

My guess is that it would be a money losing proposition though.
Paying adword 25 cents to get a 3 cents adsense click just doesn’t work…
My - very limited - understanding is that arbitrage is about buying Adwords inexpensively to generate higher value clicks via Adsense. HubPages isn't really suited for "landing pages" that are about selling a product or service, so I think it would be difficult to implement.
Yep.
The history of the scam is to buy cheap keywords “A” and send them to expensive keywords “B”. That is a no-no.
You are only allowed to buy keywords “A to send them to keywords “A”. Kind of hard to make money that way...
I selected what to quote by hitting "Reply," then - above the text box - "Import and edit the quote." I am using Chronological mode.
I now understand that you were quoting from the Google forum. It was the "this thread" part that got me confused.

Greeting Hubbers!...Just wondering if anyone ever tried pay per click like google adwords, yahoo ad center or other to promote one of their "money" hubs? And are we allowed to use a HubPages landing page for pay per click? I didn't see any hard fast rules on this. I've...
