Hair Falling Out . . . 2 Years in a Row

   About three years ago my hair started falling out, and continued for about two years. It fell out in the same two sections of my head - near the hairline above my ears. To this day I have no idea why my hair began and continued to fall out. About two years later it stopped. The bald patches started to slowly grow hair in and I have yet to have any more problems with my hair.
   
   Has anyone experienced that same thing? If so what did you do while your hair was falling out? Did you take vitamins or supplements? Did you have any chemicals in your hair?

      From what you have posted (then) I would have to say that I don't think you were loosing your hair at all...
      I think that you have been merely Growing Through It

      I never went to the Doctor . . . mostly because I didn't have insurance and didn't have the extra money to spend.

   I've experienced hair loss much like yours since I was 14 years old. It would start falling out for awhile, then stop falling out completely. It turned out that I have a condition called Hypothyroidism, which is where my thryoid does not make enough of the hormone it is supposed to make. All it takes to diagnose it is a simple blood test and the medication is only $4 a month.
   
   Some of the other symptoms include:
   -Long periods of Depression
   -Long periods of fatigue
   -Fingernails breaking easily
   -Enamel of teeth wearing away quickly
   -And, of course, hair loss
   
   Now, none of those symptoms sound life-threatening, but your thyroid is the gland that secretes a very important hormone. This hormone controls all other parts of your body.
   
   I know that it is a possibility you don't have Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, or any other form of thyroid disorder, but I also know that your personal health is very important and, while doctors can be expensive, they are also a necessity sometimes.
   
   Go to the doctor! Just because the only symptom you have is hair loss does not mean that it couldn't be something far worse.

   were you wearing your hair in a ponytail at the times it was falling out?  I've read that it can cause receding hairlines...

   The baldness over both of your ears could have come from ill fitting glasses (too snug).
   
   This can cut off blood circulation which in turn can cause hair follicles to close.

   I really hope that you have consulted someone over your hair loss. I have aloplecia caused by stress, but I still checked it out with a doctor.  You need to be certain of the cause as other hubbers have pointed out.

      We have so much additives in food and water. You can ingest something without knowing and stress out your body and poison it on any level. If your hair grew back you should not worry about that now. Things happen. We are resilient, more than we know.

   Proper hair care can give you fabulous, shining, thick, beautiful, gorgeous, and dandruff free hair.
   Oiling hair regularly will prevent various hair problems.
   Trim the split-ends of the hair regularly.
   Do not over brush your hair.
   Brush your hair regularly with a good quality hairbrush/comb. Use a broad toothed comb brush on wet hair. Wash your brush or comb regualrly with soap or shampoo.
   Avoid the use of other’s comb. Always clean your comb.
   Do not use very hot air for drying wet hair. Avoid over-exposure to the sun.
   If you color your hair, try to organic dyes such as henna(mehndi)or coffee and avoid non-organic dyes like peroxides.

   Hello InformationGuide,
   Yes, I had this happen to me about 5 yrs back. I had sudden balding areas, I called them "crop-circles." At the time, I did not have any checmicles in my hair, not even hair dye. I went to my doctor who told me it probably was hormonal and, "all women go through this at some point in their life." It is called Aloprecia. Do not mock my spelling. Anyway, I was NOT trying to hear that. Finally, after my own research, I went to my dentist. Turns out, I had an infection under one of my wisdom teeth which was also impacted. I did not have any pain or discomfot. My dentist prescribed some antibiotis and gave me a referral to a maxofacial specialist. Once I started taking the antiboitics, then I experienced some pain and a fever. After the surgery was complete, I was "better", besides one of my nerves being pulled during the surgery. My hair has not fallen out since and Ihave had no other scalp/hair complications.
   
   Bottom line, check your teeth! they can cause a host of problems in your body that most doctors will just write off. I hope this helps you or someone. TTFN.

    Hair falling out for no other *reasons* (like cancer, etc...) has been told to me is caused by hormones.  I believe a loss of progesterone.  If not, then estrogene...but I'm pretty sure it was progestrone.
    
    Look that up online and see.  I obviously didn't!

    Use only organic ingredients on your hair and never those with lots of chemicals in it. But if the hair loss seems massive to you, then I suggest you make sure if it's nothing serious and consult a doctor. You might be spending money for it, but at least it will stop you from wondering what's wrong. Besides you'd still be spending lots of money finding the right product for your hair.

    Hair can fall out due to several different reasons. Go consult a specialist or a doctor. Most of the times hormone changes and either over active or under active thyroid are responsible for extreme hair fall, so you should immediately get it checked by a doctor. Besides, heredity is also a major reason. A lot of men and women go through the same problem. At times, it definitely becomes frustrating. Drinking 10-12 glasses of water is always recommended and put a check on applying hair colours and other chemicals. Dermatologists and doctors will provide you with the best solution.  Delaying the health check-ups can lead to more problems.

    Well, firstly i changed shampoo on falling my hair....But i think changing shampoo is not the solution ..You should have proper supplemments and hair tonics for preventing your hair from hair falling.Also you can use organic hair products....
