Being new, I keep reading about having to just give it time. "Build it and they will come", er, eventually. Now I know how much wisdom is in those statements...
I posted some links over at reddit just to test the traffic theory and it works. I woke up to over a thousand views overnight and made 19 cents, which made me curious, so I went over and checked things out. Dude, is that not a low rent place or what? I left feeling like I needed a shower before coming back over to HP. I am going to keep my butt over here and be a "good" hubber from now on.
Question,if you owned a brick and mortar business would you not allow what you deem a nasty class of people to come in your store and spend money? Of course you wouldn't. So why would you care about the type of people your social bookmarks attract as long as it's making you more money or at least giving you the potential to make more?
True, but I did not sign up for the cash even though I monetize my hubs. I am a collegiate web developer in my last year at university and needed to practice SEO. I gave it a test run, had good short term results and then decided it would be better to stick to a specific place because I am partial to a better quality environment (from my perspective). Would I use reddit for a client that I felt would benefit from some fast traffic while the longer term links came around? You bet. For my personal articles though, I will stick around here and get a few links with a little less hands on effort. I also have my own blog so that equals twice the amount of articles due to the following:
It takes two similar articles using the same keywords to maximize traffic and build a personal site. Post one of them on HP and the other on your blog and then link them together. This scenario does not involve reading the f word on every couple posts over at reddit and makes me happy.
I hope that answers the question.
Yup, I've strayed in the past before, too, but I never left home (HP) and now I'm stayin' put!
HubPages is really a terrific place where you can learn so much about "this whole online affiliate thing" and get so much help from other great hubbers.
Welcome to HP!
I don't understand, is Reddit a low rent place? I agree that they're kind of minimalist, but I think they're pretty good at sorting out the junk from the good stuff. At the very least they're better than Digg ever was (before that site imploded in on itself). Hubpages and Reddit serve very different purposes, and I think they both serve them well.
With the answer that I was given yesterday about my 1 hub getting an average of 5 page impressions a day that it will take 10,000 days to make my first payout. Yesterday my page impressions average a day jumped to 10. So now I am at 5000 days to make my first payout. Thank you very much hubpages for having impressions because I am well on my way in record time to hit payout with only 1 hub. Thanks again hubpages staff.

I posted a number of hubs the other day, which all started out at a relatively low score as they usually do--somewhere in the 40s and 50s. I saw my score drop a point or two, which I would normally see. Since then, the hubs have been steadily rising into the 60s, 70s, and 80s, which is also normal...

I'm thinking the answer is probably yes?If you have hubs that have been deemed "not featured", for one reason or another, will that factor into lowering your overall score/rating as a HubPages member? Example--let's say your overall rating is 75. If 10 non featured hubs become...

Earlier I posted that people should go and make links going to other sites that do not belong to you nofollow. Then someone mentioned that if your hubber score is less than 85 then "every link" will be nofollow. But this is not what HubPages says. HubPages says:"If your HubberScore...

I just started hubbing and I was wondering if those who had been here a while could let me know what kind of results they have had with the referral program? Has anyone tried running advertisements with their hubpage url anywhere? What kind of results did that get? Thanks!

This hubber has 10 million views and just 15 hubs. He or she doesn't even bother explainining who /he she/ is on profile page. Writes about stuff like iphones. Are we all missing a trick. Do you think this person could be making serious dosh?

One of my hubs recently got a small flurry of hits from stumbleupon.com. Can someone tell me how and why that occurred on that hub -- and not on any other? Are you supposed to be signed up such groups to draw their readers?
