what does it indicate? would a 3 dollars sign ($$$) means your hub is earning?
http://hubpages.com/faq/#metrics
It's not a measure of how much your hub is currently earning, but rather an estimation of its earning potential based on keywords and what the subject matter is.
Hope that helps.
What WS said is true--it's an estimation. A pretty worthless one by my experience.
I've found the potential estimation to be useful.
A low $ Hub is going to need TONS of traffic and LOTS of clicks to be profitable.
A high $$$$$ may become profitable with a lower stream of traffic and less clicks if it is targeted to its audience well.
For example a $$ hub could earn more than a $$$$$ hub if visitors were interacting with the ads more. And the potential only applies to AdSense, not retail capsules.
ive found the potential metric to be rather worthless also
I start the hub with much more knowledge of potential than the metric could ever offer.
On one of my hubs, the dollar signs decreased form 4 to 1 - and that after adding more content.
I've also seen hubs with only 1 or 2 dollar signs age, start to get good traffic, then the number of $$$s increases, without my having changed anything.
The dollar signs does point out potential earnings, however I have found that it is not always accurate (For instance my Google Chrome Addons hub is 4 $'s but it earns very little.)

How to make good, wise and clever use of "Revenue Potential" Data.I have observed that the more links I add to a Hub, the revenue potential drops. Lesser and Very Relevant Links works best and takes the Hub on top of search engines. For e.g, the above data is from one of my hub that has...

Whats it mean when it says the Revenue Potential is $$$$$? Is that good?
by Christene 13 years ago
What does Hubpages use to come up with the Revenue Potential stat?A hub that says Revenue Potential $$ has earned about $100 while hubs with a Revenue Potential of $$$$ haven't earned anything at all.(Yes, I read the little blurb next to it.)

I used to use the revenue to pay bills, but am now living back at home with my parents so my bills are much smaller. I plan on using my revenue to move to California where I can get a higher paying job and hopefully have more time to produce more hubs. It'll take a bit of money to do that so I've...
