    Hello again!

So looking at my Adsense Overview, I see a particular number of pageviews that doesn't seem to correspond to the page visits in Hubpages I have for the corresponding day. I currently only have Hubpages as my active Adsense account.

An example is (not my real numbers)

    total impressions in Adsense(yesterday)= 22
total page views for 1 day in HP = 50

Now when viewing the Hubpages Pageviews, does 1 day reflect the prior day or TODAY? It seems today as I have tested it to make sure.

Can anybody explaing why impressions and page views would be different? I thought they were the same thing...Thanks!

Just about to ask similar questions, figured better find if there was an answer here first, glad I did. Just to finally clarify for myself, google adsense also pays a tiny bit for impressions at the same time they pay for clicks? If a page of mine never got a click, by adding up impressions google may share a cent or two with me? Didn't know that before. A confirmation would be appreciated. Thanks

That is essentially correct.  Some impressions pay by the 1000 instead of the click, so a few "extra" pennies a day is not uncommon.  Today I earned $.03 [i]before]/i] my first click, and that has become the norm for me.  A few cents/day in that type of payment.

If you look at google analytic you will find hubs that produce a low percentage of the income for the day, maybe not even enough to show a penny.  I believe those are "impressions" pay.

Thanks. I did see 1 cent dozens of times, haven't calculated how many articles I must have to make 1K/mo., hehe

You are sharing the page impressions with HubPages. They get 40%, you get 60%. Only your impressions are recorded by Adsense. There is also a time delay in reporting, and Adsense statistics are more accurate.

    I may be wrong but...

Page views aren't counted at all on adsense.

Impressions refer to any advert that will get you earnings by views, instead of clicks. Get enough impressions or 'views' of those types of adverts and you'll start earning a few cents per hundred views of those types of adverts.

Pay per view is much lower than pay per click but they do add up.

Adsense records your page impressions. If a click occurs during your 60% share of the page impressions, you get 100% of the revenue from that click. Some pages do not pay per click but per 1,000 page impressions. That is my understanding of it.

Thanks for the responses! That is a great answer Web.

So even the impressions I see in my Account Overview, say the 20 from above, that would actually be the 60% out of total 100%, with Hubpages taking the other 40? That would mean the total impressions for the day would be roughly 33 and I get 20, HP gets 13. Is that right? Thanks for the help. This is muy importante for me to understand.

PS, Adsense impression, NOT HP pageviews...pageviews are only concerning traffic, impressions concerns Google $ I would assume.

That is correct. If you had ads disabled, the pageviews would still be counted, but no page impressions would be generated.

I have a few websites that earn a few cents per thousand views, the real money will always be with clicks however.

I would just like to interject here on the google impressions vs pageviews.

This can be altered by the 60/40 Hubpages split, but you also need to consider that,

People with cookies disabled might not show, many people use adblockers which can block google ads, and a page view has to have a certain 'quality' for it to qualify for a Google impression.

I see no mention of one of the major reasons your views wont match.

Both stats work on different time lines.

Adsense is showing you a 24 hour calender day on PST (mountainview, cali)

Hubpages is showing you a rolling 24 hours.

I am not sure but I myself consider Google Adsense page impression as there way to count impression to calculate earning per 1000 impression.

Pageviews that are shown in Hubpage statistics are number of visitors recorded by there software/server.

Google also shows public service ads sometimes which aren't included in paid impressions.

In any case we can never know exact details of what Google does, as they don't want anyone to know this but I feel they have a honest system (and any mistakes they make happen when they try to avoid click frauds or any such activities).
