The amount of traffic I was getting to my hub from Google for my hubs was increasing all the time up until a couple of days ago. Since then I noticed that it was starting to reduce and so I searched on Google for my Hub on the Bristol balloon fiesta. Previously I think my hub was on about page 2 of the search result for the search 'Bristol balloon fiesta' but now when I search for this it is not able to find the page (or any set of text from within this article). After more research I have discovered that there is no record of any hubs of mine on Google other than the two which are mentioned in the Hubnuggets page and so this shows up. Checked on Yahoo though and I am still appearing on there.
Is this normal or i something up/have I posted something in one of my hubs which stops Google from displaying my hubs?
Thanks in advance.
This is normal. New hubs get a google priority for a day or so after publishing, then they drop in to the morass of similar webpages and must fight for ranking. Occasionally they get dropped completely, and you just have to wait.
Not sure if anyone knows the answer but my question is now down to the second page and it's been 24 hours so I'm bumping it up.
The numbers are always going to fluctuate day to day. Some days are better than others. You will notice a pattern. Sign up for google analytics and you will see which days are good and those that are so-so. Hope that helps
Being on the second page was never good enough anyway.
Take advantage of digg, stumbleupon and other social bookmarking programs to give your hub a bump hopefully onto the first page.(if you havent done this already)
If you want to be listed at or near the top in Google, you need to build inbound links to your site. There are onpage factors (keyword in your Title, URL, etc.) and offpage factors (inbound links with your keyword). If your competition has the onpage factors to the same degree, then the battle is fought on who has the most and best inbound links.
Start building inbound links to your Hubpage and you will outrank your competition, especially if you have the onpage factors taken care of.
What do you mean by inbound links? Links to the same hub or another hub of the same author?
Jyoti Kothari
what is being referred to as "inbound links" is also known as a "backlink"
If you so desired, you could travel the net and take part in various forums and leave comments at peoples pages with a link to your specific hub you are trying to promote.
You must be sure that this page allows a "dofollow" link
You also would want to use your keyword in the anchor text
ex) < a href = "http://www.hubpages.com / your hub " > Your keywords ex malta balloon trip < / a >
This would be known as link building, if you have a network of sites you can use your own to contribute to backlinks....
as search engines spider a site they follow this links, the more of these links and also the quality of teh page they are on contribute to your overall ranking in search engines.
But considering the introductory nature of the original question - i suggest gaming the social bookmarking pages or begin researching the fun world of SEO optimization.
a really good source for a free structured lesson is:
http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com/challenge/47874
But Im not sure i would put that kind of time into promoting a hub, unless it was proven income generator or had major issues with be number one.
There are plenty of great resources right here on hubs - if you know what to search for try backlinks, seo optimization, page rank, alexa, traffic
Thnks for your valuable suggestion but the main question is remained unanswered. What are offline and online links?
an offline link is when you take your hammer and chisel walk up to the closest cave and beat your web address into the cave wall - then all visitors to the cave will be able to instantly access your web site via this offline web portal
kidding...
the question HAS been answered....there is no such thing as an "offline: or "online" link....i would imagine all links are "online"....the terminology is "backlink or inbound" ...that link def is explained many times here...
if you actually want to learn.your best resource is google...there i snothing that has been stated here that could not have been found much faster by simply searching...these basic questions could have been answered by wikipedia
here is a good resource:
http://www.joe-whyte.com/2007/01/10/15- … -get-them/
and im not talking about the OP which is a specific question...but about your hijacked thoughts, he who i have quoted...lol
still kind of kidding
It now appears that I am starting to pick up on Google although I have also tried the tactic of social bookmarking by using Stumbleupon and Digg.
Inbound links generally thought of as coming from off-site (from another domain). However, even inbound links from other pages on the same domain have some weight.
The VALUE of any given inbound link has to do with the PR (Google PageRank) score of the page linked to you as well as the theme-relevance of the content and what keyword anchor text is being used to link to you.

I am starting to learn how to social bookmark. I've been doing it on twitter, facebook, igoogle, digg, delicious, diigo, my blogs, pingomatic and a few other places. I have only been doing it on some of these sites for the last four or five days. It probably takes a while to see...

I noticed that one of my hubs used to be high on a google search list and it was getting quite a few hits on it. It was listed in the same way as the title of my hub. Today I searched on the same term and, to my surprise, it was no longer there. I had to search down through the...
