Childress Lives to Fight Another Day in Minnesota

   I am pretty sure had the Minnesota Vikings lost to the depleted Arizona Cardinals yesterday that Childress, along with Wade Phillips, would have been fired today. Luckily for Childress, Favre was able to pull out some of his old school magic.

   I think Favre is bad for Childress. Favre leads that team more than Childress. He is the leader of the team more than the coach which creates serious problems in the chain of command. On the other hand you see a guy like McNabb doing all the right things in the public for the better of his team. If Favre and Childress had an understanding of who is in charge like Shanahan and McNabb do, the Vikings would be running for top spot in the NFC right now.

   Favre is a QB with Head coach mentality. Just because he has played the game since the last century doesn't mean he can go against the head coach. I am not saying he is definitely going against the coach but he needs to give that control back to the head coach. Brad Childress also has God mentality when it comes to the vikings. I am pretty sure he will be out of a job come January. He would make an excellent Offensive coordinator elsewhere but a head coach hopefully not.

   Let's face it. We knew this was going to happen eventually.  From day one, Brett Favre ran that team, and it was plainly obvious that he had Childress wrapped around his finger.  Hell, if Favre wasn't such a pompous jerk and wanted to have more authority over the play calling, then Childress never would've been threatened.  Now, he suddenly wants to run the team?  Bad idea.  FAVRE OWNS YOU, CHILDRESS!  Figuratively that is.  Lets face it, he practically catered, begged and kissed his butt publicly to play to get Favre to play for him, and allowed him more privileges than any other hall of fame player would've gotten, at his age.  Plus, Childress doesn't communicate well with his players.  He couldn't even tell Tavarus Jackson and Sage Rosenfeld that they were competing for back up, when he was trying to court Favre.  He couldn't make Favre adhere to a deadline, to let him know if he was interested in his offer to first play for the Vikings.  Plus, all those guys in that locker room probably grew up watching Favre; idolizing him as a hero.  Therefore, who do you think runs that locker room?  It's not Childress.   It never was.  The moment Favre threw a temper tantrum like a little school girl, about how he wasn't getting enough authority over the offensive plays was only the beginning to see who the alpha male was in that locker room.  Sure, a real coach would've put Favre in his place, but not Childress.  No, like a wuss, he begged, pleaded and kissed Favre's butt...AGAIN to get him back on the Vikings for this season.  Then Childress has the audacity to throw his QB under the bus.  Not very smart.  Sure, if you had the respect in the locker room like a Bill Billichick or a Tony Dungy, you might be able to get away with it. If your a sniveling coward like Childress, then your f***ed the moment you open your mouth about the real man running that locker room.

   That game on Sunday vs. the Cards was an amazing turn of events. Down 14 points with under 4 minutes to go, I had just about given up on the season and looked forward to getting a new coach here in Minnesota. The fact is that Favre flat out saved Childress' job, much like he got Childress a nice contract extension after last season. Speaking for most Vikings fans here in Minnesota, we prefer Favre calling to shots. Childress' game planning, play calls, and just about everything else is sub par for an NFL head coach. Vets like Favre and Moss know a clueless coach when they see them.
