Needing to fit a new kitchen. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations for nice designs or surface finishes? The last kitchen installation didn't turn out as I hoped it would.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

Corion is nice for counter tops.  Hope I am spelling it right.  My kitchen is white and Cobalt blue.  Just had the cabinets redone and although they offered me all kinds of wood, we asked for Maple because it is harder heavier and more durable a wood.  Here is a picture ...

Thanks for sending in the picture of your kitchen looks very nice and I like the colours you chose. I didn't know much about Maple wood but I will keep it in mind because those cabinets look solid - love the handles.

Pro or home? Like my pans hung. gotta be high, so ya don't bang your head. If you are short, high enough to reach comfortably, should accomodate most people. I don't care for giants in my kithchen. Just Yankees

I don't own my own home, so I cannot remodel my kitchen, even if I wanted to do so. hmm

I did a fun hub on where to put your microwave - I would start with the design before you get to the surface finishes.  Pick the layout and critical to me - is where do I put that microwave.  I am dreaming of the drawer microwave.

I also love wood floors - even in the kitchen.  Cannot ever be too rich, too thin or have too much beautiful wood grain.

I am currently remodeling my home as we speak. My wife and I bought it and tore it out down to the studs and supporting walls. It's been stressfull to say the least! In our kitchen we looked at many designs and I think we have settled on a unconventional choice but cheap and looks great after it's stained as well as being extremly durable, concrete. It sounds crazy if you've never seen it done but it is beautiful, we thought, and is right up our ally. Hope that helps.

I was watching TV the over night and they made a kichen worktop out of concrete and it looked ok and was not that hard 2 do. I am the same as Cagsil I cant do anything around the house ever but would love to. have so many plans and would love to do all the work so every thing is home made. on the floors side of things wood dose look nice but some wood are not good for wet rooms or rooms that change heat a lot. But Some Vinyl floors look like proper wood.

I agree, wood flooring is not best for every room but wood flooring can be treated to endure places like wet rooms. It just takes humidity and alot ventalation lol
