I can't deal with Hotmail anymore and I want to switch everything over to my recently created gmail email address, but when I go to Google AdSense and try and change my primary email address it tells me:

"You cannot associate a Gmail address with your Google account"

Does anyone know why??  I'm so frustrated because I really want to quit using my hotmail account!

Interesting about gmail being a no-no.

Don't fight it. Do yahoo or bing, etc.

I searched and searched for an explanation but somehow didn't come across this - thanks for the link.  I'm still not sure I understand what to do, but this link certainly helps - thanks WE!

"If you use Gmail with your Google Account, it's not currently possible to change your Gmail username after you've registered. You can, however, create another Google Account with a different Gmail username."

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding this, but I think your Gmail Account must already be connected with your Google Account, which means you can't use it there. So, you need to open a new Gmail Account with a different user name, and use that on your Google Account. Maybe WE will tell us if I'm right or wrong.

    Thanks Lily Rose and Camlo.

I noticed that the link I gave above does provide a further link to add a new Gmail address to an existing Google Account. So the Google Account login would be the one used for Adsense. Once the new Gmail address has been added, that should become the primary email address associated with the Google account.

I am saying "should," because I have never gone through this procedure personally. I tried to stay on neutral ground by simply providing a link. It is a bit technical, hopefully it will all work out.

Maybe I need to try this. Currently I'm stuck with a hotmail address linked to my adsense.

I used to have Hotmail, but couldn't use my address on Outlook Express. Glad I ditched it before I got my Google Account.
