    Hi all

Sorry if this is a silly question. How long does it take for a new hub to be indexed by Google? I created a hub yesterday, and yahoo has indexed it, but no sign of it on Google.

Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

    Thanks in advance

Anywhere from several minutes to several days.

    Ping it.

Ok. This is an even sillier question - how do I ping?

plug your hub's url into one or several ping services, for example here http://autopinger.com/

You can burn it in feed burner. feed burner is attached with Google.

    Ping may hurt your hub.

It looks like hubpages automatically get pinged by ping-o-matic. This is the main ping site and they send your link to all the other ping sites.

If you start using other ping services your content will get flagged as duplicate content and will not enjoy a high click through rate in blog search engine like Google.

So Feedburner is better and will not be considered a duplicate because of the connection to Google.  Exactly what does feedburner do?

      Ping-o-matic sends your link to

      Weblogs.com
      Blo.gs
      Technorati
      Feed Burner
      Syndic8
      NewsGator
      My Yahoo!
      PubSub.com
      Blogdigger
      BlogRolling
      BlogStreet
      Moreover
      Icerocket
      News Is Free.
      Topic Exchange
      Google Blog Search
      Spinn3r
      Bloglines
      AideRSS
      SkyGrid
      Bitacoras
      Collecta

So there is no need to ping anywhere else.

I Only noticed this as I tried to ping my hubs and I got an error saying that it was already pinged. However I just tried again and it worked so maybe hubpages are not on ping-o-matic after all, however for best exposure use ping-o-matic.

Feed burner is good for tracking feeds and feed subscribers however ping-o-matic send it automatically so no need to submit again.

My hub yesterday was indexed and producing sales within 2 hours of publishing. My hubs are always indexed within hours. Whatever Hubpages is doing it is very good.

I do also have a series of blogs that I use to boost my hubs. I usually make 3 to 5 posts for each hub. Those posts are also picked up in hours. So maybe I don't know what is causing the rapid indexing.

    Probably both.
