I am curious what the general opinion of folks on HubPages is re: Business Coaches.  Have you ever used a business coach?  If you have, what was your experience?  If you have not, have you ever heard of business coaching?  Would you ever consider working with a business coach?  Why or why not? Any other thoughts are appreciated.

There's a free national resource that I found and loved, SCORE.  It is an organization of experienced, seasoned, business owners mentoring new business owners.  They have business classes for nominal fees, and free unlimited mentoring.  They also they have resources for business networking, finding venture capitalists/angel funding if needed, etc.  It's been a wonderful resource getting started this year.  My only caveat is to try more than one mentor there if you have a mediocre first meeting.  When I sent my brother to his local SCORE resource in Maryland he said it sucked, but my meetings have been awesome in California, so give more than one a try if you're able. If you go to www.score.org, you can put in your zip code and find your local SCORE center.  Great resource, hope it helps you.

I think if someone wants to start a business and does not really know how to go about it. If the want to be successful they will need to hire a business coach, they are really good and supportive.  The only problem most people face is the finances they cost a lot of money.  I have never use one myself but i know people who have use business coaches. Is ColoradoCoach a business coach?

As far as business coaching - I do in some way believe it does/might help.  The problem I see tho is that there are way too many schools of coaching styles and I don't feel that many are right.  There are too many that take in the metaphysical or some left field thought.

The other problem I see is that too many coaches feel that you must have training even before you have an ongoing business.

If your business is at least 3 years going And your starting to have problems Then at this point it might be wise to find out why and contact a coach.  The other problem with coaching is that is tends not to weed out those in the company that are causing the problem instead they try to change these people who may not want to change.

The best turn around of a company was one that brought in NO coaching at all - took 18 months - went over every dept and elimated all the employess/managers that wern't working.

Yes, I do see the value in having a business coach. However, one has to choose wisely which coach is best for them.

I went through 13 different affiliate marketing coaching programs, mostly out of curiosity, but I did learn something.

When I was utterly confused, a having a coach mentor me through helped a lot. So I do see the value in business coaching as long as they can help you pinpoint what you don't know, where you're lacking and where you can improve.

For affiliate marketers, anyway, the main reason why they seek an affiliate coach is because they got overwhelmed learning on their own and they needed guidance to help reign them in and put them on a disciplined path.

Coaches are great for accountability and providing advice on alternatives in business planning.  You should always hire for your weaknesses and many small business owners

I think it would a good idea to have a mentor or coach. However, finding one that works well and provides excellent support is hard to find.

A Business Coach is extremely invaluable "IF" you actually really maximize your coaching sessions. I have a business coach and he doesn't tell me how to run my business. It's up to me to do what I need to do to get results.

I learned that if you have the resources then Do IT!
and if your going to do it then make sure you have vision on what kind of business your going to run and How exactly can that coach help you.

Without exact and clear vision of what your doing in your business then your coach really wouldn't serve you as well.

There are many different types of coaches, and styles range.  A business mentor is another option.  Generally, the mentor that you choose will  have the experience and expertise in your area of business. You might want to try both.
