Hello!
I recently obtained an MFA in Creative Writing and am actively seeking employment. I joined HubPages as a way to practice my craft, and hopefully make some extra income, too. I am writing today about other types of employment. I am currently searching for a faculty position at my local community colleges, but wonder if anyone can suggest other appropriate employment avenues? My school loans are rolling in! :-) Thanks for all the feedback! Sharon
SLC - Get on Elance. It's a very selective job site. Not all writing jobs so you need to get on, pass a test about their policies, which is fairly easy if you've read them, then post your qualifications in your profile. Find your category, writing, and bid on jobs. Tell the poster what you can do for them, sell yourself, bid on the job. It's a very good site.
If you can tolerate teaching at lower grade levels, I hear there's usually a market for substitute teachers. Not a long-term career by any means, but might be a way to stave off some of those impending bills if you're in a bind. Best of luck!

I'm not the best person to answer this question because I'm a writing major still working a part time job, but I hear that grant writers make a lot of money and proofreaders can qualify for full time positions with benefits. Other than that, try to finish that book you're probably writing and get it published.
Supply teaching is one option; another is to run your own creative writing course at, for example, a community centre.
Otherwise, why not just take any job for now - the first which comes along - just to get some money coming in, and keep on looking for something more to your tastes?

Ok, maybe it's just me, but how articulate do you have to be to post pictures of half naked woman into a Hub, and call it creative writing?

I've struggled with this question for quite a while. I took a few years off from writing avidly to focus on two degrees in English and Creative Writing. Now, as I am getting back into the content article writing routine again, I decided to add some creative writing flair to my content writing style. I thought it would be more engaging for the reader,...

Why do HP insist on submerging writing of prose & poetry, and not let work stand on its own merits? What is it with the HubPolice that a poem (for example) needs a singing and dancing description of the contents of the Hub with lots of lovely pictures and videos and tables and quizzes and all...
