Freakishly Low Hubscores

I have read how hubscore is computed but was still surprised the other day when I saw a hubscore of 1.  It just is somewhat amazing to me that some hubscores are 10 or below.   Don't get me wrong----I'm really not trying to be judgemental or holier than thou or anything it's just I was taken aback.  I was not looking for low hubscores---I just happened to have one stare me in the face.  Another weird thing is the hubber in question has MANY more hubs and followers than me, etc.  It is also true however that I didn't take time to look at and/or analyze the hubs or writing style in question...

Wow!  I have never heard of this, although I don't know that much about hubscores.  It is very surprising that they have more posts and followers than you, making the low score super confusing!

My hubscore is currently 51, and that seems really low compared to other people, am I doing something wrong?  What about my posts, I thought they are supposed to start at 50, but some of my better ones have dropped to 45?

Probably because you are so new.  You have been busy though in the few days you have been a member  I did not analyze your stuff in detail but at a very quick glance it looked pretty good.  I think you will see your hubscore gradually rise.  So, don't sweat it for now smile

yeah, I noticed a hubber that had 1.  I thought it might be some kind of glitch as they have heaps of followers and have written heaps of hubs.  I can't recall where her score was before, but it certainly wasn't low.

If there are mistakes, does this mean their reputation could be harmed?

I've seen that before, too... was wondering the same thing. Also notice some of my least read hubs with next to no comments sometimes have higher indivdual scores than the ones with 10 times as many views and comments, even if their older.

Guess I still have a lot to learn about "hubbing", lol.

It might be that you have alot of outbound links, slc.

Your Hubber score or Author score is 51, btw, HubScores refer to the scores on your individual hubs.

All of them take a bit of time to rise.

I have seen many hubbers on here with a hubscore of 1, and I can think of one in particular who also has over 1000 hubs.

ALL of his work is plagiarised from the internet.

We could all have 1000 hubs each if we went on a copy/paste spree.

Many of this hubber's hubs are in the number 1 spot for google too, so he must be raking it in!

This is why I do not understand why Hubpages allows duplicate content at all.

Our reputation must be shot to pieces thanks to this guy and others like him.

That is interesting!  I tend to agree this kind of thing should not be rewarded.  I can see where someone would think "who cares if I have a hubscore of 1 if I'm making $25 or more per day via google adsense.  Maybe I should do this... smile

Are you sure he stole it and hasn't just duplicated his own stuff?

If you are, you should flag him and help get him booted off here.

You can't even duplicate your own content though without getting flagged here on hubpages...I don't think.   Duplicate content is duplicate content though if you steal it from another that is especially bad.  I had someone steal an article of mine once and know first hand how that violated me.  I fixed the situation but it was a hassle.  I think hubpages is very good at flagging duplicate content.  So, if you don't address a bonafide, duplicate content flag can't hubpages simply deactivate your hub/s?  If hubpages finds you are a frequent (plagiarizer) sp? won't they simply deactivate your membership?   Perhaps one can get away with plagiarism on hubpages if they don't copy verbatim but change it up somewhat to avoid detection.  I think instead of giving a chronic, obvious copycat a very low hubscore their membership should instead be deactivated.

Incorrect. You can dupe your own content. It won't score as well, but you won't be banned.

'Flagging' is something we hubbers do to help alert staff to problem hubs/people, by the way.

            yeah ok i know that.

            ==================

what is this called....when hubpages staff, etc puts this type of message at the top of a hub, etc., this is where a person can get a duplicate content message

That message has nothing to do with duplicate content.

                yes I know!

this is one reason I dislike forums because miscommunication almost always happens, nevertheless I still come around once in a long time (like a fool) and try to participate but it almost never fails....miscommunication and misunderstanding almost always happens, needless to say i won't be checking this thread again

okay, I've flagged one asking why they have a score of 1 despite having lots of hubs & followers.  Hopefully they will check it out - I don't know if they are guilty or innocent

Adsense is still on those sites. I have a hubber I follow with 414 hubs. I am wondering about hubscore and if I should continue to follow.

There is one exception to dup content. If you get a gig on a high traffic site, and get permission, you can republish a current hub on that site without having your hubscore or hubberscore hurt. But I got permission and that is absolutely necessary.

I think it has something to do with the fact that Google now has the capacity to tell which article is first and is the original content.

I would not dare do this without Hubpage permission, so get it before proceeding. This is if you happen to get invited to write on a site, but it depends on that site asking you and whether Hubpages will let you do this. And it must link back to Hubpages.
