Wondering whether anyone would like to share a bit insight on how well their best valentian hub(s) have performed? Still experimenting. I've seen at least the most popular keywords like "valentines gift ideas" don't give hubpages a chance (could be wrong)

That's discouraging. I just wrote a valentine hub. Maybe I'll dump "valentine" and rename it "Christmas" and save it for that season.

Oh, well. Back to the drawing board.

J, not sure if it would be a good idea, since your url contains valentine related keyword(s), if you merely change the title to have christmas, it may not work well after all, and it is awkward as well. Who knows, it may end up doing well next year.

Stacie, good for you, and I think you must have written it long time ago

I wrote one last year and although it was shameless in its key words, it didn't get the traffic I expected.  I've since changed the title but it is still a bit of a damp squib.  Might be that I'm just rubbish at commercial hubbing, a distinct possibility, especially as my hubs are more for the pleasure of writing than making money.

This is the first year I have targeted Valentine's in any way shape or form, so I guess I will tell you in a few weeks time!

Based on my experiences here, "valentine" is a very competitive keyword, inside and outside, so it is tough to be ranked very well at first place when you compete with the outside world. It is also competitive here on hubpages, I've learned google doesn't like similar topics, and I've also observed google normally ranks only one hub well under a particular keyword, the older the better rank, even if the older one may be of low quality, unfortunately. So although it is often tempting to write stuff you really like about, or you just can't resist grabbing a piece of meat off of a fat sheep, I now try to avoid writing similar topics, my experiences tell me they are mostly fruitless.
