Ebay domain verfication step continuously fails

I have created my ebay partner network account successfully.  Each time I try to complete the domain verification step, Hub Pages tells me it added my personal EPN code to the epndomain.txt file, but immediately clicking the 'confirm' button on ebay fails.  My own domains continue to work.

I have tried manually checking the existence of http://hubpages.com/epndomain.txt right after Hub Pages tells me it added my code, but always get "Page Not Found."  I don't believe the verification page is actually getting created.

    Any advice?

To me, it sounds like a technical problem. The best way to get that resolved is to contact HubPages directly:

You were right, it was a technical problem.  The epndomain.txt file for domain confirmation was indeed not getting created correctly.  I engaged HubPages directly, they assigned it to an engineer, and the problem has been resolved.  Domain confirmation now completes normally.

Hmmm, interesting. So this means that people CAN sign up to EPN with a HP account.

I think you are jumping to the wrong conclusion. He said quite clearly his own domains were working. Poor Wry Lilt has already wet her pants - now she is going to be all disappointed. lol

And seeing as my ePn clicks values here are in the 0-2 cents  range at the moment..................

Aw! Oh well I'll just blame the pregnancy for the wet pants if anyone asks.

Are you sure about his own domains? From what he said, Hubpages did some type of domain confirmation. Would be good to get confirmation from OP about whether he got approved through HP or his own site.

Yes. I am sure. You need to verify any and all domains you are using with ePn - including Hubpages. But you cannot apply for an account using Hubpages.

You apply using your own website. And - if you want an account - why don't you set up your own domain? Then you can add ebay capsules here as well.

When he said "I engaged HubPages directly, they assigned it to an engineer, and the problem has been resolved." I assumed that the issue was fixed by HubPages so hubpages.com would work.

That was for domain verification. He said his own domains were working so no need to apply for an account using HP.

Ebay still will not accept applications using a domain you do not own.

You are correct.  You still have to have your own domains to get the ebay parnter network account.  Once you do that, you can add the HupPages domain.  Ebay will then check for the existence of a file to "prove" to themselves that you have access to that domain.  HubPages will create that file for you with your ebay PN code, so that this confirmation will work.  That is what was not happening, but is now working.

Thanks for the replies.  I've followed the Source instructions to a "T."  The epndomain.txt file is not getting created.  I'll follow Website Examiner's suggestion and contact hubpages directly.

Again, thanks to you both for taking the time to respond.

The note explains all. Ebay isn't allowing people to sign up to EPN with a HubPages account. But if you can apply through your own site you can certainly use your approved EPN ID on your HubPages profile.

Okay, I gotcha now. But who's going to get the mop and bucket to clean up this mess?
