questions about Cain... after he killed his brother?

I was wondering where Cain went to after killing Abel. Did he meet other human beings? Does that mean that Adam and Eve weren't the first people on earth?

      Emmanuel,
First, there are many 'maybes' regarding Cain.
Take the information at hand. He went to dwell in the 'Land Of Nod' (the outer lands, wilderness --some historians suggest the North Africa, others West Asia). There is no specific record of the time frame from when he went, to the time he arrived --nor how the population had grown while they were a united family. So people saying 'well there were other folks on the planet',  disputing Adam/Eve as the first people makes no logical sense. According to some Hebrew historians, Adam/Eve lived in 'The Garden' a-thousand years, before 'The Fall'. Some say more.

Now, I would wager, they had relations often, prior to the 'Fall' and after. Upon expulsion from the stasis of Heaven-Earth, Adam lived an additional 1,000 years. How many children could be produced in a mere 100 years? A thousand? Ten thousand?

What many seem to forget, is the events mentioned did not happen one after another in a short span of time, they happened over years and in some cases decades or more.

Why were the 'others' not mentioned? Perhaps the story that was meant to be illustrated as just that -a story of selfish murder- between two brothers that resulted in the division of family.

The text is a literal-expressive, not an absolute end-all be-all.

      James.

James, what you said made a lot of sense and i have never thought of it like that. My question has really been answered and i like how you explained it. Thanks

          My pleasure.
A key to note in that paragraph is directly after the Cain event, is mentioned Cain's wife has a son named Enoch, who he named his first city after. We must ask: How long and how many people would it take to build even a small city.

The following line mentions Lamech and his two wives. This is very interesting as one son is the founder of musicians, the other, the founder of technology. And Especially the mention of Naamah --who is called the mother of divination.

After a short chronology, the story switches back to Adam/Eve and a new son Seth (also called anointed seed). Seth is historically important, as he was born when Adam was around 135 years old. Chronicles tells of this and that Adam fathered many sons & daughters up until he died, 930 years after Seth was born.

Adam lived until just before or just after Noah was born.
So, putting it in perspective, was nearly 1,000 years from Adam to Noah --and the Flood event. Counting population, we can say each man had one or two wives and at least 50-100 years worth of child bearing -- some more, some less. Perhaps as many as 2-4  Million people on the planet, just as Adam died. That fits the mold for the Flood scenario quite well...

...and more on that later today.
          James.

Cain dwelled in the Land of Nod after murdering Abel. He married and had descendants known as the Kenites.

Since he married, that basically means that his parents weren't the first people on earth.

just like if you were to ask me in what round will Vancouver be eliminated from the playoffs.

The Romans had their time ruling the world, as well. Where is that empire now?

44 years ago, the Leaf empire began to crumble. And, now it's gone forever.

As you might know- I'm not a NKJV bible thumper- with that said, there is a version of the Adam and Eve story that addresses many of the Genesis contradictions.  It is said to be a couple of thousand years older than the biblical version that we now have, and is believed to have been the real version of the Genesis story, and not the chopped up mainstream version.  It is the lost book titled,The Life of Adam and Eve also known as the, Apocalypse of Moses.

The NKJV bible, too me at least, is the idiots version to Christianity.  Some might even say that you might be a redneck......wink

Adam and Eve could have been tribes or groups. If they truly were 2 individual humans, the Bible doesn't say that more weren't created. It just says they were the first. Personally, I think A and E are symbols for early man.

Then why were we all condemed because of their sins or do you want to tell me all coinsidently sinned?

      1. Disappearinghead profile image60
Disappearingheadposted 12 years agoin reply to this

The Church says we are all condemed because of Adam and Eve's sin, but this is  Catholic tradition which is contrary to scripture.

Each man is responsible for his own sin and only his own. If God created each one of us in our mother's womb, how can that created by God be anything other than pure and holy at birth?

Before Cain killed his brother he had a conversation with God. God told him sin was crouching at the door but Cain must have mastery over that sin. Therefore if it is possible to have mastery over sin, then man is capable to choose to sin or not to sin. So original sin is a myth.,

I think atheists should also explain for us the origins of sexes.  What if a cow mutate into another species called a male kow. Coinsidently, another cow must also give birth to a female kow. It does this way for all species and the coinsidences are simply unbearable it looks like greatly far fetched!
