I have come to realize that a lot of persons go for looks in choosing their spouse. Would you live wit someone who you can't stand her attitude all in the name of she's or he's goodlooking. So I had to write on this topics bearing in mind the diverse opinion of our readers/viewers.check out my newly posted hub on the importance of having a good character both in relationships and life and leave opinions of your views. Would u prefer good looks to good character?  <link snipped>

Beauty should not be the key point in any relationship. No one is ugly on the inside and if their looks aren't the best on the outside who cares. As long as they have a wonderful heart, funny and a great listen those are the main keys to getting a keeper for the rest of your life. Life is short and if your waiting for that beauty queen to come up and kiss you then you may end up a lone for the rest of your life.

Hmmm, lets see...ok...she has to be a "black" gym rat, bench 200 lbs, squat 300, have great delts, pecs and a muscular "jumk-in-the-trunk arse, be all "natural" ( certainly not hirsute) and have the good sense to love me...oh ...and be an angel in public and a devil in bed.........that covers it!  smile:

Don't forget that beauty is on the inside and the out! Put it this way , would you rather have a beautiful person inside who had the nicest personality, and is only average looking or someone who is drop dead gorgeous but doesn't treat you right at all ? Beauty's skin deep never forget that x

Good character without a doubt.  I am attracted to a specific type of man, but if I were to have fallen in love with someone who didn't possess those physical characteristics, I'd have been WAY more concerned about his personality characteristics.

He is BIG, tall and heavy (which I like a LOT!) and he has a beautiful and sexy deep voice.  smile  He's also just the best man I have ever known, without a doubt.  And, you wanna hear something funny?  We met online and had never seen each other before we met in person six days after the first email.  We have not been apart since the evening we met at Starbucks.

He's perfect for me, actually.  Funny how that works out sometimes, huh? wink

Good character shows beauty of a person. Their appearance is just that, an appearance.

I think beauty should be standard in any partner, but then again, I was spared a beating from the ugly stick, so I can't speak for other men, although I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm beautiful. But then again, I think it's pretty hard to find a truly ugly man, we're all pretty ugly compared to women. The majority of women are pretty attractive. Obesity is of course never attractive, sorry people, but it's true, our brains are wired that way, unless you have a peculiar fetish. And I think everybody has a specific type of woman they are interested in, just like women might have a specific type of man they look for. So personally, I set beauty as a standard, but I'm also looking for the beauty with a heart of gold. Anyways, I'm too quirky to have a girlfriend, most attractive girls tend to be looking for a high degree of normalcy in men.

We are all doomed to get old, ugly, and stinky... but good character will remain. Now, if my husband gets old, ugly, stinky, and grouchy... then he is HISTORY!!!

Every one wants someone with good character, but having a gorgeous guy with good character wouldn't hurt at all.

Someone can have an accident and their good looks can be wiped out forever in a second. I would not enter into a relationship built on something so fragile.

Character of course.. what good is a body if you hate the mind and the person? and then good luck with trying too change them to where you can actually like them, lol! it wont work.

Besides we are gonna get older if we are lucky that is, It's best to go with good character and friendship first and foremost.

Definitely character, for sure. I've met a LOT of very hot men, which of course is tempting (hehe).. but it fades away. Half of these man are so preoccupied with their image that they have no time for a relationship or even getting to know a person.
Meeting someone who has personality and character over choosing someone for their beauty is a much stronger bond and leads to better things.
