I know summer is almost over, but, buying men's shorts is really starting to piss me off. I can go into a dozen department stores and they are all selling the same crap.
Why is it that every short designed today has to look like it has been worn by some loser rapper. They are all way too big and baggy. I'm a little guy, so these shorts look like I am attempting to be a float in lame fashion parade.
I have a 30 inch waist, and, I am 5'5". It is hard enough for me to find pants that fit, and trying to find decent looking shorts is even worse. I even tried shopping in the boys department, but those shorts are so butt ugly, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them.
I also find it very hard to find decent swimtrunks. Those boardshorts come almost down to my ankles, and it seems that is all the stores want to sell these days. It is either that or those midrise suits sold on the internet...and not cheap!!
The only place I have been able to find shorts that fit decently is at Goodwill and the salvation army. I can't find anything decent in the stores, and I have been to them all.
Now is a good time to buy, because a lot if is usually up to 80 percent off!!!
So, I'm curious. Do any other guys hate the mens shorts that have been in stores lately? Makes me wish I could back to the 1970's when men's shorts were short, not this rapper wanna be crap. I also don't need words or bizarre designs on my ass thanks! Who designs this crap?
I have no problem with underwear though. It's about the only thing that fits me well. Probably why I have tons of it.
I am so glad to see that somebody feels the same way I do. I thought I was alone in this. Like you, I am short at 5' 6''. Somebody had said that this "long shorts" garbage was a product of the "suburbs" in the United States. I, like you, think otherwise... this is definitely a product of the GHETTO. Why else would all the "gangstas" and "latins" gravitate to this crap. I have found several websites that have 70's style bathing suits and I bought myself one. I love the way it looks. Now I am on the hunt for short shorts. Like somebody said on another site, if you can't find what you want in the men's department, start looking in the women's! They co-opted all of our stuff, now it's time to get theirs. They have short shorts. Just need to go up a couple of sizes to get what you want!
I have never liked long shorts (I mean, mainly for myself, anyway).
I do the same as you do, Gary. I have bought 7-8 pairs of shorts (all short ones) in the past 2-3 years from women's sections. Also, as is often the case in fashion in general, there is more variety (eg colors) in the women's section, which is great !
When will short shorts for men be popular again ? There seems to be no end to the popularity of long shorts, since early nineties or so !
I'm not a guy (contrary to popular belief) so I can't answer truthfully re the shorts issue. I just hate shopping.
Have you tried going to other stores besides department stores? A lot of the big stores have a lot of clothes with little variation in style and fit. I like going to stores like J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren, Urban Outfitters, and similar stores. They usually have more fashionable and better fitting shorts. I have been able to find the shorter shorts in those places.
If you're going to shop in the kids section, try Crew Cuts ( J.Crew's kids store).
Steer clear of the store like American Eagle, Abercrombie, and Hollister. All they have is the big baggy crap that for some reason teens find to be stylish.
Hope this helps! Check out my hub...

I fully understand that, though I am a woman (I hope), you never know nowadays. I am from an old country. In my country I could not buy any underwear because they did not sell any(deficit). In this country I cannot buy any because nothing fits! And it is expensive like hell and does not cover a thing. As my son says: "go comancho style!"
Yes, it is sometimes frustrating because I can't go to women's normal sizes, I go to teens section or pre teens. Maybe the prob is on us, we don't belong to the "average size"
I have the opposite problem to the OP - I am tall (I have a 34 inch inside leg) and am a UK women's size 16/18 (US 14/16). Buying trousers and jeans is a total nightmare.
In Toronto(Canada)they sell more and more Asian size things -rather small and short for me. This season I cannot buy anything, as everything is short, not just underwear. And I am quite average size for a white European woman. And colours just awful.
I am a guy with a short inseam that also has trouble with the length of shorts. I have found that womens junior sizes fit guys great, and you can get the length exactly wear you want them. If you want to try something else for comfort and fun, and are brave enough, try a denim skirt. I also wear junior size jeans.
Why not? Shorts are so hot in summer and I think every girl should possess a pair of shorts to add more sexy feeling.
It may be time to custom design your own shorts, do you own a sewing machine?

I favor women's panties that are soft and colorful that are non-binding in many styles. Daily I wear mesh thongs or micro fiber or nylon bikini panties, I find this type extremely comfortable. Cotton is too restraining and warm. I may be different in that I am a gay male; In that I have no desire...

I was watching this men's fashion advice guru on youtube, and he claims that men should never wear tighty whiteys, or white crewneck t-shirts, because it's not fashionable. I just watched this, and went...you're kidding right?I love white underwear, and have a lot of it. I'm not going to give up my...

At what age should a woman stop wearing short clothes? For those of you who aren't against short shorts or mini skirts or that type of clothing, at what age should a woman stop wearing them? Is is just dependent upon how she looks in them? Or do you think there should be an age cut off?
