How many pages or articles for a Kindle book?

   I thought I would create a Kindle book - collection of humorous articles.
   
   How many for their 99c do you think?

      Dude, people pay $1.29 for ONE song on iTunes. They pay $5 for a 100 page magazine that's half advertisements, making that like a buck for every 10 pages of actual content.
      
      If you're going to make an e-book, make it WORTH their money. Not by page count, but by the quality of the experience you are giving them. THAT is how you will sell more later, in my opinion (as a writer, a consumer and a marketing professional).

         Thanks Shades of course and I really value your input.  You know what I do. 
         
         I'm thinking of a collection of previously unpublished (not actually written yet) similar stuff - 400 to 600 word articles in the 'quality' level that I currently do.  Maybe edited a bit more. In fact definitely.  I might take out a number of the weakest for example.
         
         And I was just trying to get a feel of what to give someone.  I certainly would want to do my best quality - but how much is my current puzzle.

            Trust your gut. And then err on the side of your customer. Exceeding expectations is always a safe bet.
            
            And absolutely weed out the weakest. Weed out the okay ones. The, "Well, this one is sort of funny." Weed all of those out. Put those on HP if you want, but don't SELL it if you know in your heart it isn't work you are beaming proud of. As a writer, you are a brand. Your brand will be as good or as mediocre as you make it. Don't sh!t where you eat, as they say.
            
            You are funny, dude. Pick your good stuff and run with it.

         Just to add to Shades' words...deliver what you promise.
         
         My daughter just bought her first eBook and is thrilled with it. Not only does it deliver what it promises, it also uses the technology to point to valuable resources on the Web.
         
         As a writer, I don't worry about word count; I concern myself with delivering what I told my audience I would.

   Depends on how many humorous stories you have to hand. If you can muster 100 then do the first ebook with 30-40. Better to save some for your sequel.
   On second thoughts Mark, as it's an e-book it should have e-ight, e-ighteen or e-ighty. lol

      Thanks Brian. so do you think 40 pages is a reasonable number, ie. not a rip-off, for a 99c Kindle book?
      
      And yes, I can do 40 no problem.  It's always the same joke you see. Involves me falling over and farting.

         40 pages of you falling over an farting it's a bargain at 0.99c. I can foresee Amazon crashing with the rush LOL.- you don't need a mountain bike picture to go on the cover do you, special rates apply.

            Well I'd need to weave in a story about the bike, and how I fell off it and farted.  Could be done I suppose.
            
            So, seriously, given that no one else might answer, is 40 - 50 pages a reasonable length?

                  I might buy Sunforged's book and see what he has done with title, chapters, copyright page, DRM - a few bits to learn as usual.

   i have no idea, but I think it might be good especially if you include some of those natty drawings that you do
   
   wot about a  book about the life and times of Darren- you know birth, chruistening, first court appearance, primary school, first indictable offence, young offenders institution- sort of really show how he is a victim of circumstance ?

      Thanks Case, I suspect some sort of yearning for Darren?  That does sound like a good idea, but for this first effort I thought a selection of articles would do.
      
      It's more about learning the process.
      
      Stand by for endless spamming of course.  In fact I've started already.
      
      Not really - I just wanted an idea of what people would expect.  A book basically I suppose.

   no yearning for darren ( I am old enough to be his mother, but knowing the society he typifies correct that to grandma)- just met so many of his sort its nice to see the humour of a scroat rather than their crime
