Unique content versus duplicate

   An interesting little experiment has opened up to me. I started a new blog a few weeks ago with one or two posts.
   
   I went back to it a few days ago and added more content, plus promoted the blog a bit using its rss feed.
   
   I then discovered that someone else had started a very similar blog using much the same keywords and an identical layout (theme and background picture) to mine.
   
   Only difference is, he or she has managed to put up 100 posts in the time it took me to write 10.
   
   This person is also good at SEO and has already gained almost 1000 backlinks.
   
   I have changed my theme, background, everything to make it different, but to me the main difference between the two blogs is that mine only features unique content.
   
   I have no backlinks at this point.
   
   I have spent hours carefully researching my products and then written a short blurb about each, while this other person has copy/pasted directly from Amazon.
   
   So far, they are on page 6 of Google while mine is nowhere to be seen.
   
   Like I said, it's now become an ongoing experiment to see if cheating the system actually works.

      Well of course it didn't start out as an experiment, but has become one, through no fault of my own.
      
      I will keep you updated, because if mine sinks without trace, while his rises to the top, I will be demanding answers from Google.

         All of us will be watching this!  And I think that it would be worthwhile for you to post something about this on the Google discussion board.  I remember that at one point there was a huge thread going there, in response to a request for input from sites that felt they had been KO'ed by Panda. (I think that was the issue - it's been awhile and I don't follow it regularly.)

            I remember that thread and followed it for a while, but eventually it got boring with all the Tom, Dick and Harrys claiming they had orginal content, while the regular posters pointed out their stuff was copied. Ring any bells? Never happens on Hp forums lol
            
            As I only put what I would consider to be the minimum content to be called substantial up the other day, I will give it more time. Plus I need to add more myself.
            
            I've got a mountain to climb to be up there with the big boys in what is a very competitive field, but my race is only with this 'chancer', because what else can we call people who obviously can't write content.

   Plagiarism is in the net you can't stop it, but you can do something to watch your blogs and articles and report any sign of duplicate contents.
