Duplicate content and banning

If a hubber keeps getting flagged for publishing duplicate content from other sources (not their own), will they eventually get banned? Or is it HubPages policy to just remove the flagged hubs?

    Just curious.

I believe they will eventually get banned.  The main point is just to not plagarize!

Duplicate content and plagiarism are two separate issues.

Yes, one can mean the other, but while HubPages HQ actively filter content for duplication, they can't do anything about plagiarism without being notified by the copyright owner.

Hmmm, that is a really good point.

Thanks for the clarification on the duplicate content. Would Amazon or eBay affiliate links count as outbound links? So technically one can have duplicate content and still earn AdSense bucks off somebody else's content? ... hmmm - that seems a bit faulty.

Is hub removal and/or banning only reserved for confirmed plagiarised cases?

I assume you mean Amazon and eBay capsules, rather than posting links. I assume the posting of links would quickly count as outbound links. Not sure about the capsules though.

HQ would have to give the details on that.

I'd think that if it's a one off, and not something that's happened before or likely to happen again it would be dealt with a minimum of fuss. But if the majority of the hubs were deliberately plagiarised and the original writer made a complaint and it was apparent that it was the only content that the hubber was capable of publishing then I'd suspect they'd get smacked with the ban stick.

From what I understand, publishing duplicate content with outbound links is unacceptable. Those hubs are unpublished.

Without outbound links will only notify you of a duplicate flag. That hub will probably get hit in the a HubScore. I imagine publishing a LOT of hubs with duplicate content will start to impact on your HubberScore. If you get below 75 you'll start to see some changes such as outbound links on all your hubs being made nofollow.

If a person were to start off by publishing duplicate articles I don't think they'll see a dramatic rise in HubberScore or even make it to 75+.

I guess they will warn you and if you keep repeating then I guess BAN is the best solution. If you are here then you better follow the TOS. I hate that people join sites and then break all the rules and spam.

Well, if you are making a duplicate, you are pretty much plagarizeing

Duplicate also refers to stuff you have written yourself and published elsewhere.

Uninvited Writer has pointed out one scenario. There are others.

Which is why duplication and plagiarism are two separate issues.

      Same too with Copyright Infringement.
