Potentially stupid question...

   I've been working on a new Hub on and off for the past several days, but haven't published it yet. When I go into the "My Account" menu it shows that this Hub has 23 views, which I found rather odd.
   
   How can an unpublished Hub have 23 views already? Is it counting the number of times I've gone back into it to edit and tweak it? Even if that's the case, I don't think I've messed with it 23 times already. Is this Hub being viewed by the Powers that Be for some reason?
   
   Also, will the number of views reset itself to zero when I do "publish" it for real?
   
   Just idly curious.

      Yes, it is your own views.  You'd be surprised how many times you can visit a hub just to write it.  Maybe open the hub, go to edit and work, click save and you've got just added two views.
      
      Those views will stay with the hub, too.

      They are your views. Even if you dont edit, just clicking on the hub will count as a view. At least thats what happens with mine. They don't reset to zero in the totals but day by day should be different. Look at traffic sources. You'll see hubpages.com (or your own domain if you've switched.)

   Edit: I take that back about the violations auto-checker. Otherwise I wouldn't have all those zero views.

   Hubpages has no means of excluding your views. All you trips to your hubs for editing is counted as views.. But I guess you need to read some of the basic stuff in the FAQ and the learning center, that will help you understand how Hubpages works.

   Thannks, folks. I guess it's possible that I've reopened & edited that Hub 23 times by now but it seemed like an awfully high number. I was just curious.

      If you travel to the hub, then click edit and then close it, it could register as two views? I'm not positive on that.
      
      If you just click "edit" from your statistics page, then with will only register one view, when you leave edit mode.

   I just published a hub I worked on for 2 days and yes, it's easy to continually open and close the hub due to editing it.

   The nice thing about HubPages is that you can always go back in and tweak or edit your hubs later if you wish to add new or updated information.

   I started a Hub before the long Holiday weekend and then left it until last night. It showed a lot of views that were all mine while I was editing. But I didn't see that any more view were added over the weekend. So it was only me. No one else is watching over unpublished hubs as far as I can tell.
   
   Interesting thing is that the Hub Score rose to 78 over that unpublished time period. Usually when I create and publish all in one session, it starts at 50.

    Well, the Hub in question is now officially published so it belongs to the world!! Now I can start obsessively tweaking/editing another one. Haha.

    Wel, it looks like all the opening/re-opening/editing/tweaking I did to this particular Hub paid off because when I logged in this morning I learned that it had been chosen as the Hub of the Day. Neat-o!

       I too am a compulsive tweaker/editor and have been "working on" a Hub in my queue for about 2 months (it's terrible, I know). 
       
       My goal is to crank it out by the end of next week since I had so much fun writing my last Hub (oh yes, toilets can be fun, folks).
