What would you say about a Hubber who
has a modest number of hubs;
has a rather high number of followers;
is a Level 8 commenter;
tries to post a link to their own Hub in a comment;
has an AuthorScore of 1? (Yep, that's a "One.")
The comment is very good - other than the link that is in it. I haven't read any of this person's Hubs, but a cursory glance did not reveal anything of obviously low quality.
I'm guessing that the high number of followers is a result of the Hubber following a whole lot of people indiscriminately - and maybe that's the only reason for the score of 1.
Are there other reasons for that score?
Would you approve the comment containing the link? I know that some Hubbers that I respect very highly simply do not approve any comments that include links. What about you?
Well if it is the hubber I think it is, that hubber has one hub, but is always adding to it.....so it is one long story that keeps getting longer and longer. He does however generally leave some quality comments to other hubbers hubs. I would personally leave the link....he has a ton of followers and they could work their way back to you.
Thanks, "Cags and Cog's"!
Actually, this one has a decent, although modest, number of Hubs. Many more than just one.
I tend to be inclined not to approve the comment, but other than the link (which I don't want to accept) it was very nice and encouraging.
I'm wondering if this person posts a link in every comment on other Hubbers' Hubs and is therefore considered to be spammy?
My Hubscore plummeted despite 2 strong New Hubs, increased traffic and social interaction (Hub-Hopping etc). Maybe this Hubber was accidentally awarded my Lost Hub-Points - lol
LOL! Great theory, TK.... except that this other Hubber only has ONE point. Total!
But your theory does bring up an interesting idea. Suppose there is a finite number of Hubber points floating around in the vast virtuality of HubPages, and they just get redistributed according to what each Hubber is or isn't doing? J/K,
Is the hub being linked pertinent to your own? Will reading it add to a readers experience or provide more information that you did not?
If not I would not allow it. If yes I might, depending on the comment and which side of the bed I got up on.
Good questions, wilderness. I haven't read the Hub yet, but the title leads me to believe that it is not even remotely related to my Hub. I'll double-check, though, before deciding to deny the comment.
Do you think that's why the score is so low? The Hubs themselves didn't really look spammy (but that's at first glance and no more), and the profile looked compelling and attractive. The score was a real puzzle to me!
I would have to go with your guess that the hubber has been following indiscriminately. Or maybe s/he is leaving these comments everywhere and being denied - were I HP I might ding the hubberscore for leaving 50 denied comments...
Or maybe they just had 100 hubs unpublished for continual TOS violations. You just never know.
Good suggestions! I hadn't thought about so many denied comments affecting the score, and that makes a lot of sense.
I did read the linked Hub. It was good and it was interesting, but it had absolutely no relation to the Hub of mine where the comment was left. So I'm denying it. Another one bites the dust....!
I wouldn't accept a comment with a link like that..that is down right rude and somehow I hate this practice of indiscriminate following..
In fact I have a couple of hubbers who follow me with absolutely no hubs to their credit.. I wonder why they are on a site like this for more than 8 months.. does this in any way affect your score I wonder ..

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

Do you think it is important to comment on a hub if you have read it?I've read that some hubber's read hubs but do not leave comments. On person said be assured I read your hubs even when I don't comment. I don't get it. I think it is courtesy to comment if you read someone's...

I am curious what you think about people that post links to their other sites (hubpages or others)?I have been getting lots of comments but that have links to my hubs, and it seems they are trying to promote their stuff on my pages. I am curious what you think about this and others as well....

How do you react to hubs with comments disabled?As a hub reader, how important is it to you to be able to comment? Does it frustrate you when you are not allowed to comment on a hub? Will you still vote on that hub? Will you follow an author who disables comments? I wonder if disabling comments...

Wow! What do you do when someone writes a hub attacking you personally because you deleted a comment they posted to your hub?

Is it OK to put links to other hubs in the comment boxes?Sometimes I want to point a reader to another hub of mine where I know they will find the answer to their question. So is it over promotional to add a link to another hub of mine in the comment box. I have done it in the past and haven't had...
