advertising on forums???

   was just wondering what the eranings potential would be for add placement on the forms pages.
   
   i'm no brain on how any of this works, but it was a bizar question that popped into my head.
   
   the revnue generated could aply to the original poster of the forum,...he/she would own that forum like they own a hub.
   
   i notice that some folks here have a knack for posting forum topics that keep going like the energizer bunny,... would seem like a missed opportunity for them.
   
   the forums are only visable to members but why not

      It would be a long, long road from idea inception to implementation. And it would be strewn with many, many pitfalls; the really big one being click fraud. But if it were to somehow succeed, site sign-ups and traffic would go through the roof.

      Advertisement on Forum is not a bad idea. I don't know why HP is not implementing this. However, there is no use of implementing it on revenue share basis. They should use their own Adsense ID just to level the expenditure that they are incurring to keep this forum running, like engineers data centers etc. Since, it is visible to search engine and the forum contents are a part of site maps, so it should be easy for them.
      
      Sharing revenue on Forum is a recipe for disaster. It will become one of many destinations of spammers. However, HP should be welcomed to post their one Ad here. A financially healthy HP will keep all of its writers healthy.

   I think the forums are for the content makers not the income sources.  I am happy not to have ads here.

   Just think of all the ridiculous threads started just to earn money, same with the questions. I am happy the way it is.

         I think if spammers were going to try to spam in the forums they'd o f done it already- one thing that keeps them from spamming our hubs is moderation but also that no links actually appear even with urls fully formatted so no juice would be gained and thus we're rarely spammed, and flagging gets rid of it quickly- I think since it's a static hub itself to create a thread, and much like a comments box in the hub itself- there would be no real risk beyond the same risk on a hub-
         
         BUT what they could do- is make it where only hub page authors would have access to posting- as I think it is so spammers wouldn't be a problem- if they spammed their accounts would be terminated.
         
         I like the idea of hubbers earning from their threads but the moderation in here is pretty good so that wouldn't be my concern, however I believe it would be a much better idea for them to earn from them to maintain all these programs and hiring more coders to implement features...
         
         but I too enjoy an ad free forum environment so it's actually a nice relief that this isn't the case here.
