Have You Read About Carrier IQ, Hidden Softwar On Your Smartphone?

   I read this article today about hidden software, Carrier IQ, which logs every text message, Google search and phone number typed into many smartphones, including HTC, Blackberry, Nokia, and more. Apple has stated they have it on their IPhone, but it is disabled.  The information is then given to the carrier provider.
   
   The software runs without the user's knowledge and is sometimes used in malicious software. This sounds like a illegal privacy issue IMO.  Does anyone know more about this?

   I don't like stuff like this. It does sound illegal. However, it seems like government is pushing the boundaries of the Patriot Act.
   
   I'm glad I don't own any of those products.

   It's creepy. Did you watch the video? The keystrokes have their own unique code #.
   
   
   I like the questions he would like answered at the end of the video.
   
   Why is this not opt-in?
   Why does the user NOT know about it?
   Why is encrypted browser data being read?

      It's most probably an engineer creating a one size fits all program in response to a coding request...nobody there most probably even knew this law breaking program was doing this.
