I have been invited to a murder mystery evening on Boxing day and apparently I will playing the part of Dr Doris Johnson, eccentric archaeologist.  Other than wearing my glasses on a long chain around my neck (which I do anyway and as it's too short notice to obtain a monocle) I have no idea how an eccentric archaeologist might dress? Any assistance in the wardrobe department would be gratefully received. smile

If she goes into the field, anything hardy and easy to move in (with little regard to fashion).

An archeologist friend of mine repackages safari Barbie as Archeologist Barbie, if that is any guide--

Actually Psycheskinner, it is. I was thinking along the lines of floppy sun hat, wellington boots etc (what I would imagine an archaeologists to wear on a dig) But I just wasn't sure as I've never met an archaeologist.

I'm also thinking UK, our weather is rubbish and even in the summer it's unlikely we'd be wearing a vest top. We'd be making our way through mud.

When I think archeologists, I think of Jurassic Park...I don't know if that helps...

It does, but it also makes me think of white coats. I suppose it's a field verses lab archaeologist.

Oh yes.  I was thinking of the two, main characters:

I have no idea why white coats came to mind, it's years since I've seen that movie, was there such a scene at the beginning of the film. Still, as I'm playing a woman, there's no way I'm wearing shorts with my legs! lol

    Hi, Hollie

I have only ever known one archaeologist and he was most certainly eccentric! It was his wife and my ex that were friends and I only ever met him a few times but on each occasion he was wearing hiking boots. Common sense, I suppose, if stomping around on rough terrain. What I (and my ex) also noticed on each occasion, however, was that whatever jacket he was wearing (I remember a safari jacket!) always had what looked like coffee or food stains on it. He clearly didn't notice and his wife obviously couldn't be bothered to tell him.

Hope you have a great time - and definitely don't end up getting murdered!!! smile

    Hi Gordon,

I have a pair of walking boots, I bought them during a trip to the lakes in 2003. (I'm a hoarder) Definitely better than wellies, me thinks. I also have a khaki jacket, not safari and minus any stains, but they can be arranged!

I'm hoping I wont get murdered, too. I will be packing my fiercely loyal border collie, though. (as it's a sleepover)So potential murderers should beware, they may get licked to death! smile
