Different Font Colours

I quite like the idea of us having the option to change font colours for text in certain areas of hubs. Right now 'bolding' the text or changing the heading font style seems to be the only choice, but on occasion it would make highlighted areas clearer if we also had the option to change the font colour as well.

It could be useful for certain types of articles, but there will always be people who would abuse it and write technicolor articles that make the site look trashy.  There are already some authors who write entire articles in bold.  Uggggh.  Maybe it should be a reward for attaining some milestone or achievement.

Good idea, that could control it, and the font colours could be additionally limited to a few colours to avoid the facility being abused.

I think this option would be especially useful for subheadings within the hub.

On other websites where I write and it's possible to change colors and fonts, the features are horribly abused, resulting in overly-colored pages, garish color clashes and a very unprofessional appearance.

I'd prefer not to go down that road again here.

I agree. I already have a problem with the entire hub being bold or italic. I can't imagine reading a hub that's all red...yikes!

I totally agree Cardisa, which is why to avoid this the idea was it would only be an option for either subheadings, or a certain percentage of text within a hub. A whole hub in technicolour would be gross!

Well We could have the the subheadings (in the capsule subtitle section only) with the option of two or three colours; black, red and maybe blue. That way there is no option for text change and subheadings that are made within the body of the text will have to remain black.

I'd love to be able to use a different color for sub headings. A couple of different fonts would be nice too.

Right now, the only change in colour is blue for outside links.

Even one other colour choice would be nice, say red, or green for example (blue no good as it would be confused with being a link). It would just make it easier for people to see sub-headings with little effort and would still look good. It would also help break up the text for the eyes, in much the same way putting pictures does, only with less effort.

I agree. But this would lead to red hubs and green hubs! If possible only hubbers with a certain threshold should be able to use it.

LOL, good point, perhaps they could set a limit on the percentage of the hub the different colour could be used on, in much the same way as we have to have so many words of text per Amazon or Ebay Advert. That way people could only realistically use it for headings, or short paragraphs of text.

Edit: I do like the idea of limiting the use to Hubbers of a certain level, e.g. over an 80 Hubscore for example, although of course this would cause a problem if their score dropped below 80 for any reason, (might be a good incentive to keep it above 80 though).

How about just being able to use color for the headings of each capsule.  For instance Introduction.

Can you do that in Hubs too Sir Dent, or only in forums?

Right now you can only do it in forums.

That would be the best way to go to prevent misuse

There is another site that allows this (Squidoo) and many of the pages on there are absolutely hideous.

Think MySpace! Remember how much control users had on their pages there? I seriously had a friend who had so much crap on her myspace page that it would crash my browser.

I know this is just a font thing, but I just think it would be gaudy.

Something I would LIKE to see though, is pretty markup if a quote is included in a hub.

I would also like to see increased functionality in the code snippet boxes on hubs.

The present look is cool. I really don't wanna see Scary Pages on Hub Pages.
