No Such Thing as Sick Days

As a child, sick days were not such a bad thing.  You got the day off of school.  You got to curl up on the couch in a Beauty and the Beast blanket (or whatever cartoon you were in to at the time), and be waited on by your parents.  You even had your own puke bucket that mysteriously reappeared emptied and cleaned whenever you needed it.  Life was great!

Then adulthood strikes.  Not only are you responsible for paying your own bills, but now when your sick you have to take care of yourself.  You can still wrap yourself up in that Beauty and the Beast blanket and sleep most of the day away, but  now you have to call off work.  This is not nearly as much fun as missing school because it actually costs you money.  You have to do your own laundry and make your own chicken noodle soup.  Sick days are really starting to go down hill.

However, nothing compares to being sick when you are a parent.  Now, there is no sleep.  Your beloved Beauty and the Beast comforter is covered in your daughter's puke.  You have to breathe through your mouth and pray to God that you will not empty the contents of your stomach while you change your sons diaper. You have no time to nurse yourself back to health, because you are taking care of your children.  And, if your like me and actually do nurse your child, you have a limited number of medications that are safe to take while breastfeeding.  Yep, once you are a parent, sick days are a thing of the past!

How do you power through your sick days, and still be a top notch momma?  Let's hear about it in the comments!

I post from an app on my iPad and it says I haven't published anything and have no comment, then I checked my e-mail updates.  Technology has bested me once again!
