I don't know if this is a bug or technical problem from Hub Pages' standpoint, but it most certainly is so for authors and readers.
That is, when in reading (not editing) mode, the ability to "click photo to see full size" option used to be a great feature.
It has been rendered useless! Sure, it opens in a new window, but the photo appearing there now is much smaller than the original shown in the body of the article.
This may have to do with the re-vamped layout, but it is most certainly not an improvement by any stretch of the imagination. If I want to see a photo open in a new window, it is because I want to see a larger version to make out details better. The same size or smaller is terrible.
And no, it has naught to do with the size of the original photo as uploaded, for this new sizing fiasco happens even on older hubs, from which the photo used to come up shown in a larger view.
This is especially important when the "photo" is actually a flow chart. The reader needs to see the details and be able to read what that chart says, because it is also not legible as sized within the article.
Please fix this, and give us back the photo enlargements feature!
I second the request for all the same reasons.
There are at least 2 other threads on this, and I've been begging to at least find out if HP will consider putting this back or not.
Yes, I depended on those large photos for detail and want the feature back, but if we could at least find out if it might be done it would be nice. Future hubs will have to have some kind of work-around instead if the click to enlarge is gone forever, which most likely means a hub full of big pictures or writing it in some mysterious way so as not to need photo details to show up.
For the kind of hubs I write, the deletion of click to enlarge is really detrimental. It reduces photos to the status of a mere curiosity, something to add interest but little more, unless just a couple are needed. Try writing an informational hub with 10 or 20 full size photos in it!
Right! There is actually no point whatsoever in making a photo clickable to open in a new window if it is not larger! Might just as well remove the photo capsules altogether, and drop the requirement for any type of hub (usually contest ones) to include photos!
Dzy, Dale, check out the forum:

Jason was kind enough to answer in a different thread and provided a screen shot of what he saw when he clicked a photo in my hub. It was not what I see or, apparently, what you two are seeing either.
Yep--that's what's happening, alright, and it needs to be fixed, pronto!
I don't know, Dzy - it's almost as if it is on my (and your) computer. Something may be fouled up with the javascript, Jason thinks. I've tried fooling with all the settings there, to no avail, but if others using the same browser (Firefox 13.0.1) see things differently then it must be me.
I asked for clarification in that other thread, but haven't heard anything.
Clarification? Explanations? HA!
It happens regardless of browser--IE, Firefox or Chrome! I don't fool with settings, as I'd foul something up on my computer for sure, and hubby would be pissed off at having to track it down and fix it. I know enough about computers to know, "If you don't know what it is, and don't understand what it does, don't F** with it!"
Yeah, me too most of the time. I found a section, though, where individual attributes of Java could be changed. Change one, test the photo, and change it back. Go to another. Repeat in pairs.
That kind of thing I'm willing to do, very carefully. I also updated my Java info as it was 'way out of date, but it didn't help.

I got contacted by the editors, and they want to "promote" one of my articles up to one of the niche sites. Yeah! Sounds great! However, they want me to fix the size of the photos. They say the photos are "half-size" and they need to be "full-size". I don't know what...

Once upon a time, when I first joined Hub Pages, there were some things in place that were very helpful for readers. A couple of those have gone away. One in particular I'd like to see come back is the original photo up-sizing when clicking on a photo or other image in a hub.It used to be that...

I don't see where else to place this issue--I don't think it's exactly a "bug," but more of a change that was made???At any rate, the problem is, it used to be that when you clicked on any photo in any hub, it would open the photo alone in a new temporary window without taking you away...

Sometimes people don't want to see the whole slide show.

I just checked one of my hubs where I give people the option to click and view the FULL size picture and now it looks like we have this slideshow that gives you about a half size view of the picture, if that. I know for a fact that the image was bigger because it's a screenshot of my profile,...

Hey Staff,I just wanted to let you know.....testing the new my photo feature.I have found out that you cannot make adjustments, if Firefox auto-loads the next page. The user is forced to click on "next", to go to the next page so that the "choose an album" and "write a...
