   I am searching for a new author to read.
   I'm looking for Psychological Thrillers and Crime novels, I already read Patricia Cornwell and Jonathan Paterson.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

         I have read all of Dan Brown's work and some of Dean Koontz, but not all.  Do you have a favorite book that you could suggest? Thanks.
         I'm not big on vampires, has Anne Rice written about other topics?

      Well, if you like Psychological and Crime (not as much of a thriller), some of Jodi Picoult's novels tie in.  Have you read hers before?  I recently finished House Rules, and it seems to apply to your interests.  Good luck finding someone new!

      Here is a little bit of a review I did that sounds right up your alley if you haven't allready read her.
      I recently discovered on the bookshelf, another good series for those of you who are like me and like to spend time getting to know the writing style and characters as an author grows in his or her abilities.
      The F.B.I. Thriller series by Cathrine Coulter is one such opportunity. This series began many years ago (1996) with a book titled "The Cove". This book begins with Sally St.John Brainerd fleeing for her life, having escaped a mental institution.

      Irving Wallace is my favorite, all time author. He has been gone for several years now, but I have read every book he has ever written, and some of them 3 or 4 times. The man was a genius and could weave a story! You might enjoy him!

      I agree. I could read a book for a day if it's from Dan Brown. He can really captivate his reader to the last page of his novel.

   I have a few favorites: Jeffrey Deavers, James Patterson (Cross and the Womens' Murder Club - although the Women's is a little light). David Baldacci, Richard North Patterson, Kellerman - but seem the same all the time. Tried a new one and read 2 of Vince Flynn - good, very good. Sorry I can't recommend Dan Brown - never have read him. The above as far as intrigue and psych. thriller - I'd probably go with Deavers or Flynn and one more Kathy Reiches ( did I spell that correctly)

   If you want something a little more advanced than Dan Brown, try Umberto Eco. He's been called "Dan Brown for grown-ups". I find Dan Brown to be, well, not a very good writer. He repeats the same words and ideas over and over again. Here's a humorous take on Dan Brown's writing:
   "Langdon couldn't believe his eyes. "I can't believe my eyes" he said. He picked up the diary and read it with both of his disbelieving eyes.
   "Incredible." he muttered, "So the racist drunk man DID shoot the giraffe..."

   I am currently into Karin Slaughter - now there is an author who knows how to keep you reading from one novel to the next - start with 'kisscut' followed by 'Blindsighted' - I am just iat the end of the third book 'A faint cold fear' and only just found out who the kller actually is and normally I would have guessed way before this.  I discovered her earlier this year when I was looking for some ideas for my own crime novel 'Watching and Waiting' which is based on something that really happened earlier on this year when I in-laws (both in their 90's) got robbed by Heroin Addicts.
   
   Karin Slaughter has really got me hooked - I hasten to add that I read two of her more recent offerings and decided to it was worth reading the whole lot from the beginning.  I love her work.

   I am a huge fan of JD Robb (an alias name for Nora Roberts). She writes a series called "In Death" about a no-nonsense cop who had a horrific childhood and keeps her heart hidden, and her billionaire Irish husband - who has also had a troubled past. He often helps her with solving crimes. The best part about this series is that it's set in the future - around 2060. Nora Roberts is a true genius! I would recommend her books to anyone. You should start at the beginning if you're interested with "Naked in Death".

    I’d recommend Clive Cussler or Dean Koontz, I find their work to be purely entertaining. With Cussler find his earlier stuff without Co-Authors.
