Find out who your leaders are
your mayor, governor, senator, etc. If there's a problem, can you send in a idea to resolve it? change perspective? that could be a start. Pay attention to what they do and how they vote, etc. US has websites to their leaders. I know since I listed their links on some Hubs of mine 
please don't ask which ones 
I can only say, ones that refer to politics, governance, leadership. Anyways, as I said, find out who your leaders from local, regional to state
