Firefox crashed on me last night, and now won't restart (even in safe mode).  Anyone got any ideas?  I hesitate to re-install it, as I would lose add-ons, etc.

I think installing a newer version of Firefox will not over write your add-ons, the newer version bring them in very easily, except ones that do not have a new version. Most of the add-ons the moment there is a new Firefox version release their own version or a patch.

I can't remember how I fixed it (or even whether I did so).  The great thing about losing short-term recall is finding these things out about myself -- here, that I was smart enough to ask for help!  Sorry I can't pass along what worked, though. . . .

          Sincerely,

I had that problem with Flock. I can't get it to stop crashing. I'm back to using Firefox.

    Hi
only the beta version of firefox could crash often.

    Hi
just reinstall your firefox, you won't lose your add-ons.
You could look at my hub on "firefox add-ons" and back up all your add-on settings, if needed.

As a precaution you can save your plugins and extensions. They are all in Program Files/Mozilla FireFox. COPY not MOVE them to another location.

reinstall FireFox with the latest version.

If the reinstall did not keep the plugins and extensions, you can just copy them back.

The crash may be due to one or more of your extensions. Disable them and add them back one at a time.

I reckon it's windows, they see Firefox as a real threat to I.E. so they make it crash to upset users to bring them back, :-)

I agree. I use Firefox on Mac OS X and it hardly ever crashes on me.
