   I had a garden client that kept saying, "Shirley really likes it when the lavender is in bloom. Shirley would prefer it if you remove that hosta and put it with the others" I went on break and asked the guy I was working with who Shirley was. He looked at me very confused and replied, " The homeowner you have been gardening with for the past 2 hours."
   I still do not know why people do that. Maybe it is easier on the mind to have the "other" person be the reason for everything.

   Whew! OK, I'm not guilty. Didn't think so, but then I just went through some of my early hubs. I found myself saying over and over, "God, that's awful! Did I really write that?" So I may have been a different person when I began writing on HP.

   It's about preference regarding how one wants to present him or herself. I wanted to make a professional presentation versus a personal presentation. So speaking in third person creates a professional distance without being too aloof . . . I hope.

      I agree with JanShares.  In all the years I spent writing for magazines and newspapers, never did the publication use bios that were in first-person.  That's more the style for blogging, where you do everything in first-person. I don't consider HP a blog site.

   When I was in graduate school (art school) they taught us that bios should be written in third person to appear more professional.
   
   I say write it in first person or third as you prefer, but don't be so sloppy as to switch from one to the other in the middle.

       I vote we use the Royal We and sound like the Queen of England.  "We arrived at the quaint Hub of Pages on a misty winter morning. We found it most agreeable and have made it our periodic retreat from those tedious duties at Windsor.  Tea, anyone?"

    Beth was born in a small make-shift home on the poor side of town. Somehow, maybe because of her incredible gumption, her incomparable beauty and the fact that she was kind of a floozy, she made it out of the bowels of this dark city and escaped into the hills of Tennessee. There she found a cottage fully stocked with food, a lap top and internet access. She couldn't believe her luck, but she figured it was one of those mysteries she would simply never understand... plus the family that lived there didn't seem to mind her presence as long as she washed their clothes and cleaned their toilets. It was here in this magical haven where she discovered hubpages online and all the wonderful authors who frequent the site. At this very moment she would like nothing more than to thank every one who took the time to comment on this thread and she would also like to encourage you to visit her page and drive up the numbers in her "views" column, cause she is just that kinda girl.
