I bought my domain name on GoDaddy and use Hostgator to host my site. My husband has always used Rackspace for our email hosting. Between our family of four we have several GoDaddy domain names and email addresses hosted by Rackspace. We use Outlook to access our email.

With the creation of my new WordPress.org website I bought a new domain name, blissfulmiss, and I am having it hosted by HostGator. This is the first time we've used HostGator for hosting. I want to create a new email address associated with the domain name and my husband is wondering if it would be best to go ahead and use HostGator for the email hosting.

This is all pretty new to me and I wanted to get other opinions on the matter. Before I used HostGator for hosting I did a search and found several people suggesting GoDaddy to purchase domain names and HostGator for hosting. So I felt good about that decision. Before I mess with my email I'd like to get input as I have no idea if there is something better about doing it one way versus another.

Thanks so much for any input you may have.

If you want an email address associated with the domain then it will have to be on Hostgator.

You can then set that email address to forward to your existing email address.

I can't comment on email hosting as I've always used free email (eg. gmail).   However I found this review which ranks Hostgator pretty highly:

Thanks. I actually decided to set it up after I wrote this post. wink But if I "had" to use Hostgator, then I'm glad to know I did the right thing. So THANKS!!! big_smile

Hostgator are fabulous all round. Go Daddy not so good. Be aware that with Go Daddy if you ever make the mistake of allowing your domain names to lapse they will bump up the price hugely in order for you to buy them back. This has just happened to a friend of mine, and he has no intention of paying the new prices they are trying to charge him. I tend to avoid Go Daddy full stop based on the recommendations of many top web masters I know who virtually have a coronary if you even mention the name 'Go Daddy' lol. Those same people highly recommend Hostgator for hosting though, and usually places like 'Namecheap' for domain names.
