I was wondering if the traffic will increase if we link to other hubbers with hubs on related topics.
Will google value the links from within HP ie .hubpages.com??
Without links our hubs are never going to rank on search engine results, so why don't we try this.
A lot of people write on similar niche, so everyone will get a lot of links.
How would this be different from the internal linking strategy of HubPages which they stopped doing themselves because it was found to be hurting traffic?
For better rankings you need relevant backlinks. Links from a tech blog won't do much good for a cooking blog.
When "deciding" to rank you in search results, Google first looks for relevant backlinks to your hubs. No links = No rank.
We should link each others' hubs (related to the topic).
Few links are better than no links!!
Also, it's important to use different anchor texts. HP used the same text (Title) every time. That's unnatural links, so G penalized the HP accounts.
Featured hubs get more traffic cause they are linked to the main HP domain; It gets the link juice. Unfeatured hubs don't and that's why unfeatured hubs don't rank in search results.
Im not exactly sure but I dont think that this will work. I think already HP links your Hub across to related content. And since this has occurred since the dawn of HP then I don't think that it affects traffic.
If a person landing from Google finds your hub sufficient they wont follow links to other hubs to find another answer.
I have often thought about a forum thread where we can all advertise our work to each other. But no idea where to start with that.
That would drive traffic up, but only internally. Perhaps that would help Google. But not sure.
I didn't mean driving traffic through links.
Links have great value in terms of SEO--More the links (Relevant Links), higher the ranking in search results.
I wrote a hub that has a lot of links to Mark Ewbie... unfortunately he keeps unfeaturing his hubs and I keep getting "broken link" msg's. (By the way, quit it, Mark.)
He says HP unfeatures his hubs.
BTW did you publish that Strength at the times of weakness hub again?
Unfeatured hubs would not cause broken links, only deleted or unpublished ones would.
I'm getting a lot of broken links lately. Does that mean more people are deleting their stuff??
That has happened to me and the hubbers are just gone, left HP forever I guess.
I think Mark was removing a few of his hubs in that particular case.
The internal linking structure of HP is a major factor as to why we already rank so well.. Many people myself included write in niches and interlink our hubs as much as possible to try to improve rankings and of course drive traffic - links should be where people want to click for more info not just for SEO purposes.
I have tried linking to others in the past but I kept getting issues with links being broken as hubs became unavailable or other issues....
I have links on almost all of my hubs connecting me to other hubbers but it has not worked for me.
People are deleting or unpublishing their hubs. That is the only way you could have broken links.
I strongly suggest that if you care about the future survival of HP, you do NOT delete hubs unless they are unfeatured through 'quality' (the full new moon).
I agree with Izzy. Recently I unpublished about half of my hubs. After a change of heart, I'm slowly going through them with a fine toothed comb and republishing them as I can get to them. They were not unfeatured so they're coming back quickly to featured status.

Let me preface this by stating I am not trying to be mean or a troll. In fact, I avoid the forums because I don't want to get involved. But with so many posts about the topics I'm about to discuss, I wanted to put in my two cents and to offer a reality check to old and new hubbers...

I'm thinking the answer is probably yes?If you have hubs that have been deemed "not featured", for one reason or another, will that factor into lowering your overall score/rating as a HubPages member? Example--let's say your overall rating is 75. If 10 non featured hubs become...

Last night I went in an edited a capsule so that it would be full width, which is what HP wants everyone to do. The article I edited has been published and featured since 2012. When I went in and edited, however, the editor that read it decided that it was no longer going to be featured. I was told...

I don't suppose I'm the only person wondering what happens if the machinations - automated or otherwise - lead to HubPages having a much REDUCED income stream from Amazon.Make no mistake - as Google Adsense income dives (which it has been doing consistently for months) - income from Amazon modules...

Well, when you are suffering from depression and you opened your hubpages stats then you notice that 9 of your supposed to be featured hubs got unfeatured due to lack of traffic.. Very disappointing indeed but, can you guys here suggest some tips in improving hits? I don't want to spam my facebook...

Hubpages have developed a habit of keeping unpublishing my hubs for "linking to prohibited sites" - However, the particular hub in question which keeps repeatedly being unpublished does NOT contain any links whatsoever! It has been submitted, re-approved and then unpublished again...
