A Celebration!

   I'm extremely happy to find that my work is REALLY paying off now, because in the month of November, I will have earned more than $50 in earnings! I've not yet received my first payment (for everything through last month), but my hubs have been flying through the roof in traffic. Over 11k visits in 30 days. Keyword research really pays off guys! Is anyone else still waiting on payment? Have you managed to pull in enough to surpass the threshold in 30 days? I feel this is a huge achievement- I finally met my goal. Next, I want to DOUBLE my monthly earnings. IS it too high of a goal?? I should hope not. I hope everyone finds TONS of traffic and a fat check this holiday season

   congrats! I think it's not just good keywords that result in high traffic but also what you are writing about. If you've made $50 in one month that is awesome as it takes many months to earn that much.

      Yes! I love to combine keywords with interesting content- As you can see by my latest, I love shock content. It's just the kind of stuff that intrigues me- I love to learn about odd cultures! And when you bring the two together, it surely is a recipe for success. I don't even have very many published hubs at all, I want to say about 33. But a few are huge hits with Google- so I hope to find many more of those holes to fill Thank you! How is your account doing for you?? Did you crack any milestones this month?

   It's interesting to see the different models on here eg keywords vs no keywords.
   
   Your hubs are obviously producing and well keyword researched to get the traffic as well as being engaging. You are quite a talented hubber and a good promoter who attracts a Google audience with engagement.
   
   I notice with someone like billybuc, that his hubs, while not keyword focused tend to attract more of a loyal following where people go back and read more of his stuff, because he focuses more on his passion. This model would not die because someone ranked higher than him for a search term - instead they get addicted to the miniweb of billybuc!
   
   There's also some great niches on here - especially the cooking and craft ones where hubbers have made a GIGANTIC effort to stay with the same topic for their subdomain. From what I can tell, they do quite well in niches, because they are becoming authorities by having so many alternate words (whether keyword intended or not). These people have written "cake" 1000 different ways and Google likes it immensely.
   
   I'm wondering if there are other models on here. Would love to hear about them if anyone comes across more!

      This is very true Suzanne! I'm trying to produce content that sticks in the mind WHILE being anchored with keywords. I don't know if you've seen any of my hubs, but many are DEFINITELY off the wall topics LOL. Such as sky burials and self mummification. I also wrote a help hub that demonstrates how I've done what I've done, to answer questions I've had. I was hoping to help lots of people here, because it's simply AWESOME to be able to see your work pay off like this! I was hoping many of the awesome people here could use my cheat sheet and renew some hope for their hubs I hope I can build a loyal following as well, but building that following is MUCH harder than trying to rank. It'll probably take another year before I get a good following- or longer. We'll see though!!!!

         Yeah, I think engagement is the new buzzword for Google these days.....plus anything over 1000 words seems to get more traffic automatically, irrespective of keywords or backlinks. I think it is because when you write 1000 words, you are automatically coming up with alternative keyword phases (without intending to) and it seems to work well.
         
         I used to do the keyword thing a lot and Panda knocked those down significantly, plus over time people started outranking me and I couldn't be bothered fixing it all. But without doing too much at all these days, the 1000 word rule is paying off for me + engagement factor. Earnings are way up per hub compared to what I used to get, so I'm very encouraged.
         
         Your hubs have great variety, I liked the Maccas one, which had some very new things I hadn't seen before! I think your originality in topics will pay off in the longer term.
         
         Some tips for you: establish authorship link between Google+ and Hubpages (http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/a-Hu … oogle-Plus) to assist people getting to know you out there, plus have a look at increasing Alexa rankings on your profile page. It's helping me get a larger profile page pagerank to bring in traffic who can then choose which hub to read (and hopefully I please them most of the time!)

         PS - I can see I'll have to write another hub on this stuff later on.....plus I'm sure you will too (we can complement each other)! Our Hubpages hubs are very attractive to people here aren't they? I think it's great that we can all show different angles on what's working for us.
         
         PPS - Nearly 40k pageviews and climbing. Admittedly, many were earned when I was away from HP with only 10 hubs up, but it is climbing well. Only 60K to go before next accolade and I can feel pretty with the little icon present from HP. x

      I am about to get first payout.
      
      I went away from Hubpages for about 1.5 years, leaving 12 hubs up and came back to a little present of revenue, which I would consider pitiful payment for 12 hubs over 1.5 years, but was happy to get.
      
      I have been back for 1 month, written about 10 quality hubs, put up another crappy 18 I had in a closet and in 1 month, I'm almost at payout. So all up, about 2 years. But in reality, the most success has come from the past month for me, as I am writing hubs over 1000 words every time now and that is working well for me. I highly recommend it.
