Hello Hubbers! I'm in need of some advice.

When I was a teenager I wrote two novels, one high fantasy and another which was a sci-fi and sword-and-sorcery hybrid. I am now in my 30's and have decided to publish these books online; I started by uploading the fantasy novel, Echoes of the Past, here on HubPages. However, I quickly noticed fiction stories are not why the majority of readers come to this website, but rather they are seeking informative articles. My story does not receive any hits in the long run, not a single one.

I moved a few chapters over to FictionPress.com (a sibling site to FanFiction.net) thinking visitors go there specifically for reading stories. But again, my story received a lackluster amount of attention, no reviews (but a few spam messages), and now sits buried under a horde of other genre tales with zero daily hits.

Now I am thinking of joining the masses and self-publishing the novels, but this is where my dilemma comes into play.

Echoes of the Past is book one in a plotted three or four book series, but I never wrote the rest because the manuscript was never picked up by a publishing house (way back when). And regrettably, I no longer read, nor write, the high fantasy genre. I honestly dislike it now, and I can't force myself to write something I'm not passionate about. So I have issues with publishing a book with no end.

Does anybody know of a forum or community where I could find someone (or anyone here) who would be interested in taking up the series after book one? Like a co-author or something? I realize there will have to be some sort of legal issue to address with copyrights, but it's by my own choice. Or should I just publish the eBook at Amazon and see what the initial response is first?

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi again. smile

I've decided, for the time being, to remove my story from HubPages. In my opinion it just doesn't have a place here. I will continue to upload it to FictionPress.com since there's more of a chance of gaining a readership base there.

I'm still looking for someone to take up the series, but for now I've also decided to put the self-publishing eBook idea to the back-burner due to the general lack of overall interest. I guess there was a reason the novel was never picked up by a professional publisher. (*ノ▽ノ)

I have, however, created a "landing" for my books at my own Blogger, and if anyone was interested in keeping up with Echoes of the Past — and my other teenage-written novel The Iron Dragon Guild which I will upload at a later date — please visit here:

    Thank you!

I would recommend this writers forum: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/index.php .  In my experience novel length work does better in downloadable ebook form.

Wow, what a huge forum! Thank you for the suggestion!

That's what I was afraid of, which means I really do need to find a writer to adopt the series first; readers paying for downloads will most assuredly want a story with closure. I appreciate your input, thanks!
